  1. Brett has an article up talking about the Padres being interested in both Happ and Contreras. If it's possible to get 2/3 of Hassell, Wood, Campusano (would maybe need to take on Myers?), all of a sudden our chances of getting Soto seem ... possible? realistic? A Cubs top 5 prospect list of PCA, Davis, Alcantara, and 2 of the names above is a solid list for the Nats to choose from. Not many teams are as well positioned financially as the Cubs either
  2. OK, after watching some highlights on the guy, I'm not too upset. In general, I think the athletic, two way player thing is overplayed (Casey Kelly is still probably on someone's top 100 list) but he's got great stuff and I like that the walk totals were low. I am shocked they didn't just pick Lee and am a little fearful about that one
  3. Do they do the between inning sticky stuff check in the minors? I'm genuinely asking because Kilian is missing his spot by feet. It looks like he's throwing something slippery. Also Villar is doing his part to turn this into another ugly start
  4. PCA and Morel have made it a little easier to stomach Davis' disastrous 2022 (not that it's entirely his fault)
  5. Was Dreckman's comeback there "it wasn't that far outside". lol. What a shitty call
  6. I feel like that ump scorecard Twitter thing is gonna be like +5 runs for the Cubs in this game
  7. So, with an extension seemingly not happening, what are we looking at for a potential Contreras trade return? Even if teams don't need a new everyday catcher, dude's putting up great numbers even for a DH
  8. Sorry Garcia, you are out for running to first base in a straight line
  9. lol at Sut. He's kinda entertaining me tonight, but I could not take him for a full season..or more than a week at a time
  10. Was at the Iowa game. Killian was 92-94 with some 95-96 early in the game on two strike counts. It felt like he got a lot of swings and misses on everything. Command wasn't perfect and his velocity wasnt quite at his best but he did seem a little too good for AAA. Also the one guy who scored on him reached on a strikeout, wild pitch. Velazquez was also impressive
  11. Wait so in that recruiting visit to Wrigley in March, they clearly just pasted Seiya's face on Contreras' body on the video board. We can't do better graphics work than that?
  12. So with no reason given and being able to select Sampson who wasn't previously on the 40 man, Stroman's ailment is presumably covid, right?
  13. Just brutal luck for Wisdom today (and really the whole offense)
  14. I feel like he's hit into some bad luck recently but hopefully Willson starts getting rewarded w more results soon. Good teams that have gotten bad offensive production out of catcher but good pitching results, might not be in a huge rush to give up value for a new starting catcher anyway, unless Contreras is hitting really well.
  15. As a low contact, high power maybe early career CFer (especially at Wrigley), is Velazquez really that far below Brennen as a prospect? I mean that more as a compliment to Velazquez than a dig at Davis btw. I'm willing to give Davis some time and we're still early enough that a few big games change the slash line a lot. But Nelson has gone quite awhile mashing the horsefeathers out of the ball. And there was a defensive scouting report from the AFL that didn't seem so bad
  16. Is Brennen hurt? That's two games in a row he didn't play
  17. I've finally trained myself that grounders up the middle are routine outs, yet somehow no Cub defender was within 15 feet of that Harold Ramirez single
  18. I'm glad he can actually hit In all seriousness, this comparison has been out there too much. Their track records are not close
  19. Wait what if Wisdom and Schwindel are both actually good
  20. Prime KB ABs were a thing of beauty, to compare him to a recent great RHH Cub. But the quality of these are, or have been, a step above. The discipline, power, everything. He's just so so good
  21. Cubs have had a lead every game of the season
  22. Deichmann might not be long for the 40 man with his play and the amount of outfielders around.
  23. Weird game with some bizarre mistakes by both teams. Helluva job by Steele and Thompson in Coors
  24. Nice job by Steele. This game should be like 8-0
