  1. I [expletive] love Milton Bradley. People have let the actual assholes like Paul Sullivan and his band of jolly ugly cohorts determine how they feel about the guy that Cub fans should adore.
  2. I remember some of the players talking about how to keep focused during a long season that will inevitably lead to the playoffs. I remember fans on this board saying how after the playoffs last year, they won't give a damn about the regular season and start caring when the playoffs started. I remember a manager talking about how to keep focused during a long season that will inevitably lead to the playoffs. I remember when my grandma died.
  3. Kenney's been around for awhile, and every team has somebody who's in charge of making money from the team. Blaming Kenney for being cheap when the Cubs have a bloated payroll seems strange.
  4. Well one of those 25 start years was last year...which also was his 2nd highest inning total. I'm not saying he's over any injury risk, but if you take extra care with him, I think it's reasonable to hope for 150 innings per year.
  5. Yeah, there's no bad blood between the Brewers and Cardinals.
  6. There is absolutely no chance whatsoever that we sweep the Cardinals. This is where Kyle would be useful.
  7. Haha, no chance they'd lose a game they'd find a way to go 11-0 I understand this is enjoyable or a release for some, and I don't want to presume to tell people how to post. Just understand that the tongue-in-cheek exaggerations about the Cardinals doing well or the Cubs doing poorly are extremely irritating to many people, especially with how often they are seen in various forums. That's one way to put it.
  8. Well football players are idiots.
  9. Acquiring non-failed prospects that other teams have given up on.
  10. It's been done. Dave Trembley currently in Baltimore. And Joe Maddon never played in the majors. They both played in the minors, be it a short time, and thats still considered pro baseball. I see nothing on Trembley playing in the minors, but I'm almost positive John Boles never played anywhere.

  12. Anybody projecting towards that at the age of 22 is something to be excited about.
  13. Is there anything similar about them other than being toolsy SS? Cedeno couldn't touch Castro's BB/K #s, and was 2 years older along the way. Both were promoted agressively, but Castro earned them with his #s, while Ronny was promoted on his tools alone.
  14. Which game is rained out? :D Huh? They have a 10 game homestand no? If they do go 10-0, they still don't really make up enough ground unless STL and/or COL go 4-5 during the same stretch of games. We don't need that kind of collapse if they play that out of their minds. Catching the Cardinals basically requires a sweep of them in that 3 game set. So, the Cubs need to make up 5 games somewhere else. Making up all 5 of those in one stretch isn't really necessary.
  15. The next move in the series.
  16. I could be wrong, but I think the added revenue of a jumbotron would come from the ads that run on the jumbotron more than attracting more fans. Yeah, I didn't consider that, but I guess it would bring in some extra dough that way. Might as well plaster the whole place with signage at that point, too. the cubs have the third-highest payroll in MLB; they really don't need to plaster wrigley with gaudy signs to compete with the rest of the league. It would help.
  17. Personally, I would like to see Soriano given the "Andres Blanco" treatment, and go on the DL because of an "injury." I'd like to see him go on the DL with his legit knee issue. If he had a legit DL-able knee injury, why wouldn't he have already gone on the DL? He doesn't have a games played clause for his contract. He's not an irreplacable force in the lineup. He doesn't have some sort of games played streak. They haven't shied away from using the DL for other players. Stubbornness on his part. I didn't say I necessarily think this is the issue, just hopeful.

  19. We'll see. His next start will probably be the same brilliance or a high ERA 2 1/3 inning disaster. Smoltz claimed that during the break he found his mistake when pitching to a high-school catcher. Apparently he was planting his foot too early and at a different angle. Thus it was throwing the rest of the mechanics off. If this is true it shows just how brilliant Smoltz is. Plus that Duncan has nothing to do with his possible turn-around. Woosh. Smoltz was super toasty with Boston, I'm not buying that he's any good.
  20. I saw that, it was funny and typical of something he would say. If ND did manage to go undefeated I still think a 1 loss, Texas, OU, OSU, Florida, Alabama, LSU, Ohio State, Penn State, or USC would go in ahead of ND. Hell if BYU goes undefeated they will go ahead of ND too. A 1 loss USC team couldn't possibly deserve to go ahead of an undefeated ND team that beat them.
  21. And none of this is to try and defend the NCAA. They're largely a joke who rule in a completely arbitrary manner depending on who's involved.
  22. And people tend to take SATs(and definitely improve upon them) while on vacation.
  23. Bit my tongue clear off here. Whether a school is willfully ignorant while a student is enrolled at the school, or willfully ignorant in order to get him enrolled at the school, it really doesn't matter. This wasn't Rose taking the test once, not getting his scores, realizing he needs to get his act together to be eligible and that's it. This was Rose failing to reach the scores 3 times. This was Rose then travelling to Detroit(home of friend of the program worldwide wes) to take the SAT. You don't think Calipari knew exactly what was going on? He just thought Derrick would be more comfortable taking the test in Detroit? Away from all the pressure of Chicago? He just thought Derrick flipped the switch the 4th time around, and took the test seriously? You think Memphis's compliance department saw this as standard operating procedure? Detroit's where most kids go to get a boost in their scores? With Calipari's history, Memphis held their nose and said let's go for it. It bit them in the ass and now they're pleading ignorance. If they weren't willfully ignorant, then they were accidentally stupid.
  24. I kinda agree with this. I really don't get the difference between this and the Darrell Arthur spot. Did the NCAA prove Memphis knew about the SAT? Cause in both cases it seems like the NCAA Clearinghouse approved the kids? I'm not going to act like Cal was running a completely clean program because that's likely not the case. But this whole Rose thing is pretty ridiculous. I don't know what else Memphis or any program is supposed to do. The guy was cleared by the NCAA clearinghouse. Are programs now supposed to dig deeper to clear players on their own? What's UMass supposed to do? The NCAA cleared Marcus Camby to play even though he was getting paid! What are they supposed to do, stop their players from getting paid on their own? What's Michigan supposed to do? The NCAA cleared Chris Webber to play even though he was getting paid!! What are they supposed to do stop their players from getting paid on their own? What's Georgia supposed to do? The NCAA allowed the kids to take those fake classes and be eligible! What are they supposed to do make their players take real classes on their own? What's Washington football supposed to do? The NCAA allowed Jeramy Stevens to play even though he raped that girl! What are they supposed to do stop their players from raping girls on their own??
