  1. Any Celtics argument would be based on a season-long coaching job, moreso than outfoxing the opposition in the finals. The defensive powerhouse that Thibodeau(and by extension Rivers) turned them into was pretty damn impressive.
  2. When was the last time you can think of an NBA team that you'd say won the title because of coaching? The Spurs? I wouldn't entirely discount an argument for the Celtics in '08. Pistons in '04 have a pretty nice case.
  3. Mr. Ricketts can take down a lot of banners in the Wrigleyville neighborhood. Or not.
  4. I hate on Cubs fans as much as anyone, but I think you're off on this. There have been 2 division crowns since then, along with a team in 2004 that everyone thought was stacked that fell on its face down the stretch. The masses have plenty of other things to be bitter about/people to hate. 2003's a distant memory with a team full of guys they don't care about/hate. Except for Kenny Lofton, man did they love them some Kenny Lofton.
  5. The Magic weren't exactly healthy in that series. I've thought all along that people were underrating the Celtics heading into this playoffs, but unfortunately I don't see any way they make it to the Finals. Rondo can't do it alone.
  6. Not nearly as many fans of other teams.
  7. It still takes you from Tampa, FL to Syracuse, NY
  8. Sorry Roast, this doesn't mean you get to carry one now.
  9. And the Nationals are up there because people are still pissed about Jim Bowden and his segway.
  10. This is actually pretty far from the truth. Cal runs a fairly complex dribble drive motion offense. No, he's right. Calipari is pretty much a strategical nitwit. Nick's not rational about Calipari.
  11. The coach matters a lot. The problem is that most of them are retreads and pretty interchangeable with the rest of the mediocre coaches in the league. I absolutely agree with this. Comcast said Eric Musselman was one of the frontrunners for the job. I mean really??? Cheeks and Johnson were the only names mentioned that would interest me if I were a Bulls fan(and I may be overrating Cheeks because I was impressed with how cleaned up the Blazers' act.)
  12. I'm not reading that
  13. I'm saying if the coach doesn't matter, and all that matters is the skill of the players, then don't hate Vinny for the Bulls having shitty players
  14. Not sure if you are responding to me but who is freaking out over Vinny? Every single Bulls fan for the better part of the last 2 seasons.
  15. I'm going to have to disagree. The guy sucked cold butt for a full year. There was plenty of reason to doubt whether he could return to his top form. Yep, the only reason for optimism was the injury.
  16. So why the freaking out over Vinny?
  17. That said, it's not happening. (Lebron or Calipari)
  18. Harden was only necessary because we needed a stronger starter pitcher. Nolasco's 08 would have fit the bill perfectly and also would have prevented Harden's 09. Yeah Ricky Nolasco was just as good as Harden in '08.
  19. Don't get me wrong, I'd love Calipari to the Bulls. Gets him out of the college game, and would give Sulley possibly his best material to ever work with. The meltdowns on here with each loss would be epic
  20. Fine, in '08 he made Sean Gallagher expendable to go get Harden.
  21. Marquis's contract sucked because he was coming off a year where he put an ERA over 6, and there was no way it was necessary to pay him that much. Marquis was necessary in '07 unless you wanted Wade Miller's corpse or Neal Cotts as the 5th starter all year.
  22. They'll probably give him double Howard's salary.
  23. Cal's offensive sets make Doug Collins's "give the ball to Michael and get the [expletive] out of the way" look like the Princeton offense. He would not bring a title to Chicago, and after you piss of Lebron by firing him, then where are you?
  24. Marquis didn't exactly suck
  25. And that's why I shouldn't quickly glance at ERA
