Are you ok with no limit on how often a coach can call a 15 year old kid? Should there be restrictions on when he can place calls? How bout visits? Can he wait outside his school every day for a week? The NCAA is FUBAR, but it doesn't mean there's no basis for their restrictions. We don't really have a problem sending young tennis/gymnastics/music prodigies that are much younger than that to go to a school almost entirely devoted to getting better at tennis/gymnastics/music. But those kids aren't young and black and from poor neighborhoods so we don't see the need to save them from themselves. Any person that you see in Olympics, and many, many levels of competition below that has had a far more regimented lifestyle for longer than the typical big time college hoops or football player. Were you replying to somebody else. None of that has anything to do with what I posted. I said nothing about overworking a kid or taking away their chance at a pro career. If a parent decides to send their kid elsewhere to develop their gifts, then go right ahead. I've got no problems with schools like Oak Hill or Findlay, it makes sense. If you want to get on somebody for not giving poor black youths a chance to make money, get on the NBA for the age limit they put into place because they want to cover their own stupid asses because they don't know how to judge high school talent. They better be careful with their labor situation, because an extended lockout is going to lead to a whole lot of US talent playing overseas, and all you need is a few success stories before that jump starts happening from high school. I bet we'd see the age limit rule repealed real quickly after that.
