  1. The atmosphere at New Comiskey is in no way comparable to what has gone on at Wrigley during the playoffs since the Bartman game. I would wager that before 2004, Fenway was every bit the headcase convention Wrigley is. And yet they were down 3-0 and came back and won the ALCS. All this added pressure stuff is whiny excuse making and I'm surprised to see you take this stance. The Cubs haven't won because they haven't been good enough, combined with a little bad luck. Same reason as every other team in baseball that doesn't win in a given year.
  2. This is confusing....the teams who had the longest pennant droughts in 1990, have gone 8-0 in world series games once they got there? The Cubs (0-0), White Sox (4-0)...and who else? The only other team to make one WS appearance between 1990 and 2010, or sweep their first WS appearance post-1990 was the 1990 Reds, who went 4-0 after a 14 year drought (1976) inbetween pennants. Were the Reds really the 3rd longest pennant drought in the league in 1990? I figured he was talking about the Red Sox and White Sox, not sure why he is using a 20 year time frame, an 8-0 record and a 3 team grouping. Because they were the 3 droughts of epic proportions. Nobody cares about the Giants not winning in 50 some years, people knew who Willie Mays was. All the Cubs, Red Sox, and White Sox guys were dead or banned
  3. This is confusing....the teams who had the longest pennant droughts in 1990, have gone 8-0 in world series games once they got there? The Red Sox didn't have a drought after they swept in '04, so all that enormous pressure they felt with the curse was gone, allowing them to sweep the '08 world series
  4. He should hold a press conference saying how angry he is. Then make Aramis run laps for being bad No no. Being bad is fine. It's being lazy but still good that's a punishable offense. Well of course he's lazy, he's from Mexico, and he has guaranteed money next year.
  5. In the past 20 years, the teams with the 3 longest pennant droughts are 8-0 in world series games. I guess the weight of the world gets off their shoulders once they win their league.

  8. and urinal cake budget As long as they still have Bison dogs, he can slash whatever he wants!!
  9. So Ricketts reaction to losing is going to be to slash payroll?
  10. The same thing was said about the Red Sox. Yeah but they were able to Cowboy Up. What could we possibly do to match that? Not stop believin?
  11. The same thing was said about the Red Sox. You don't understand man, I've seen it too many times!!
  12. I thought the Cubs were getting a guy who kept a tight clubhouse in Lou Piniella. He really has softened in the last couple years. I don't think he has the energy or will to keep a tight ship anymore. I just can't believe he let Ramirez bring a gun to the clubhouse. That has to be illegal. Ryan Franklin was upset about it earlier this year (he's an avid hunter, though I'm not sure why he would need one in the clubhouse). Anyway, I'm not sure it's illegal, but MLB has a rule against it. http://content.usatoday.com/communities/dailypitch/post/2010/02/cardinals-ryan-franklin-bemoans-baseballs-edict-against-guns-in-clubhouses/1 There are also the city of Chicago's laws about gun ownership. I love that people are seemingly just reading posts at random in this thread.
  13. He was hated in Seattle, it's why I found the Bradley trade hilarious
  14. Maybe because Wade was [expletive] everything that moved.
  15. I think you're thinking of the Giant Gonzalez
  16. Holy [expletive] Sulley. I'm drinking the kool-aid, but damn.
  17. How many teams have better backup 3B than the Baker/Tracy/Fontenot hydra?
  18. The better question is how many years does Stuart Scott have left in him? Cause that'd be great if he went away forever
  19. And you thought Indiana had no frontcourt depth last year.
  20. http://www.suntimes.com/business/2405782,CST-NWS-wrigley18.article Seriously? Does Tunney live in the area? Clark is hopping every freaking night with all the bars even in the winter! I'm so glad that I'm moving out of the area in a couple months. I am done with Chicago politics. Not really. Friday and Saturday nights are hopping, but Sunday-Thursday its kind of a ghost town. A grocery store and/or gym would provide the city more constant revenue streams. Not to mention the hotel and the property taxes from the condos. Yep, unless there's a home game, there's nothing going on during the week. The winter in general is dead.
  21. Wekse can do it in 3.
  22. Any Illinois fans feel some deja vu as the Celtics blew that lead? Ugh what a fuckign nightmare
