  1. lol...yea there's no undrafted success stories out there...like Kurt Warner, or Warren Moon, or Antonio Gates, or Priest Holmes, or Tony Romo, or Jeff Saturday, or Adam Vinateri, or . I never said there wasn't. There's always diamonds in the rough. But as of right now they don't have much value and you can't be certain they'll even develop into useful players. Why don't you start up a packers thread and post there instead? :) Better yet, how about a Packers board.
  2. Ok, but Jeff Francouer was replacement level over the past 3 seasons while playing nearly every damn day and his approach has sucked from the word go.
  3. It's not the quality of the song that has DM all red-faced.
  4. You lost me at Francouer.
  5. So no cheering til the world series?
  6. I like both. The Vedder song seems more passionate.
  7. Yep, Bradley's problem was that he never showed any emotion.
  8. Trading Marmol is fine, but his recent stretch is going to severely limit the return. Marshall is making 3M next year, there's no reason to trade him.
  9. So cheer, but only up to a certain level.
  10. I wonder what Jason Marquis would cost. Or Javy Vazquez or Chris Young.
  11. And if Vitters would stop swinging at balls, he'd drive the ball better, and have a better shot at being a middle of the order producer.
  12. All of next year's guaranteed changes. Technically, the arbitration awards aren't guaranteed, but even the Cubs aren't dumb enough to non-tender Garza and Soto.
  13. It doesn't include the money still owed Pena
  14. Explain how Wilson/Aramis/Prince will cost more than $60 million. Something like Wilson getting $15 million a year, Aramis being brought back for the team option and Prince inexplicably getting $30 million a year? The 60M doesn't include Garza, Soto, or Wells's arbitrations, along with at least league minimum guys to fill out the roster. Byrd, Marshall and Marmol have raises that tack on another 6M too. I assumed everyone's working off of Cot's #s which already figure those in.

  16. When a veteran-loaded team is at 21 games under .500 in the middle of July, he could call out a player a day. That'd get them back to 500 in no time.
  17. I understand inflation, but I keep getting hung up on not wanting to pay Kosuke anything for his age 37 season even if it means paying a little extra each of the next two. That said, as I told Truffle, I wouldn't support a 2/20 or 3/20 deal for Kosuke anyway. You pay Kosuke 6M in '12 and put 4M from your '12 player budget in a CD. (Let's be very conservative and say 1% interest) You pay Kosuke 6M in '13 and put another 4M from your '13 player budget in a CD (Again we'll say 1% interest.) In '14, you now pull that money from the CD, pay Kosuke with 8M of it, and sign an 8th rounder with the extra $120,400.
  18. She can be Branch Rickey, and it could still be 20 years before another woman gets a GM job.
  19. She's capable, but if you're going somewhere in that mold, why not just take Hahn?
  20. Because winning the division shouldn't be the goal. If the goal is to win the WS, the division will come. This attitude drives me crazy. You can't win the WS without winning the division. (Yes, NCCub, I know the wild card exists) It's not either have the best team in the NL next year or blow it up, we're not winning until 2018. Build the best team possible next year, win the division, and take your 10% chance at winning it all.
  21. Why do we need top third of the NL pitching to compete in the worst division in baseball?
  22. I assume you meant SI is getting less reputable.
  23. I'd very much enjoy an outfield of Szczur, Jackson, and Kemp. There'd be like 7 hits dropping in that OF all season.
  24. also other players will see soriano or ramirez loafing so they'll all stop trying too. Plus they'll stop bunting.
