    Cubs fans who don't appreciate Starlin Castro shouldn't get to be Cubs fans.

    Wasting Castro's cheap years is completely unacceptable. Assuming health, in 2 years Castro (while still a huge deal) will start costing actual money. Then you're saying well why sign Votto to a long-term deal, when we're going to have to start paying Castro 8 figures in a couple years!! Albert [expletive] Pujols, no thanks. Holy [expletive].

    There won't be flaws on this player in his prime in 2 years? It's unacceptable to have the highest payroll in the division (even writing off Soriano and Z's contracts, we're still right around the Cardinals) and punt 2 seasons. The Cubs have a gaping crater at 1st base at the major league level and in the farm system. There is not a more perfect scenario for Fielder and Pujols to enter the market, and people want to pass on them because we can't guarantee we'd win the division the next 2 years?? These are 2 of the best players in baseball right now, and people are so worried because a contract everyone hated at the time wound up being a contract everyone hated. What the hell is wrong with everyone?

    Is there any evidence that Pujols is older other than "JUST LOOK AT HIM!!!" It's not like he was an out of this world dominant force in high school befitting somebody far older than his competition. He didn't become ALBERT PUJOLS until he became a professional.

    I feel like people think Pujols has been a lot worse than he actually is this year. He has a 149 OPS+, something the Cubs haven't seen from a regular in 6 years.

The vote for his approval as owner has already been pushed back, which likely means Selig doesn't have the necessary votes to get him through.

    There's no sense in asking a guy currently employed by another team what he thinks about possibly taking another job, let alone a guy who's a GM. Nobody goes up to Pujols expecting him to say how he'd listen if the Cubs came calling.

    I doubt it's happened often, because you'd have think he'd have been burned on it by now if he's constantly turning his back while a pitch is being thrown.

    Yep, seemingly once they pointed it out and went with the picture in picture they were going to pick on anything they could to develop the storyline. Having his back to the plate was pretty damn inexcusable.

    Short answers to Scotti: -Past Performance Is Not Indicative of Future Results -You must think the Ricketts family got a steal on the Cubs and are true financial geniuses -You're essentially saying you know the A's financial situation better than Forbes and that the A's owners are utter buffoons for giving up a 4% share in the greatest investment vehicle ever created.

    Uh, you mean like the value of OAK doubling over the last 9 years? That's just fact. Sure Beane can sell at the current value but he can't replace that kind of secure growth during a very long recession in the market or in real estate. If a smart investor owned 4% of the A's in this market he/she would NOT sell it at face value. If the A's are going to soon be valued at 616M at minimum (Holy [expletive] they are not), then why would Beane only make 12M from the sale of his shares?
