Besides jackson and rizzo. our best prospects are four years away. And its not like Rizzo or Jackson are of the top ten prospect variety. I.e. no sure thing. Their minors are deeper and their prospects are much closer to the majors. And their major league roster is horrendous and they spend 8 dollars a year on major league payroll. -

I forgot, they also traded for Colin Cowgill and are going to sign Manny Ramirez. All of this while already having Michael Taylor, Chris Carter, Daric Barton, and Kila K'ahasldauslhdg in their organization, and having virtually no chance at competing this season.

There haven't been many teams that won the World Series because of a signing like that, either. I believe Matt Holliday was dubbed a crippling contract on multiple occasions. Aaron Rowand and Barry Zito were obviously dumbass contracts. I'm certain Brian Wilson's super 2 extension caused people to wet their pants in rage. The Yankees? Try to find a contract on that team that anyone thought was worth it. Posada, Tex, Jeter, A-Rod, Damon, Matsui, Sabathia, Burnett. All were going to waste spots that could've been better utilized on better talents. You guys sound like Christina Kahrl.

Over the past 40 days, the A's have signed or traded for Josh Reddick, Coco Crisp, Seth Smith, Johnny Gomes, and Yoennis Cespedes. It's really sad to see what's happened to Billy Beane.

I'd rather not sign anybody. It's ridiculous how much money professional baseball players get, it is way too risky. A lot of teams are making bad decisions right now. Really, really [expletive] bad ones. Ones which I would be [expletive] PISSED if the Cubs had made. Not speaking to Cespedes so much as Pujols and to a much larger extent, Fielder. Well, I won't lie and say I'd have been mad if we signed Pujols...but I would've been well aware that it was a pretty stupid decision. You don't know these are crippling decisions until you know what kind of budget these teams are working with going forward. I just know we're working on year 3 of every free agent signing (except CJ Wilson) being derided as moronic, and there haven't been many teams that have been torpedoed because of them.

I tend to agree, unless Purdue wins @ Illinois Wednesday. Losing 6 of 7 in league play just looks bad. Not that Purdue is much better, they had lost 4 of 5 going into last night. Streaks (hot and cold) are more a sign of schedules than anything else. Purdue should pass Illinois on the S curve(and they will, since Illinois would be out at that point, and probably would never get back) if they beat them this week, but not because of what streak each team is on, but because they beat them twice.

I'm just curious why potential failed drug tests is an issue for Cespedes but not Soler. I don't even like Cespedes that much.

As garbage as we've been lately, and as much as we got worked by them, there's no logic behind Purdue being ahead of us in a current snapshot. Worse losses and worse wins.

He has already been drug tested (and presumably passed). So have Arod, Manny, Bonds, Clemens..... One clean test isn't going to remove my caution. Like I said, I feel better safe than sorry on this one. So...don't sign anyone ever.
