  1. Kenney is who I was getting at. Glad somebody gets it.

  3. http://www.baseballamerica.com/blog/prospects/2012/02/report-soler-may-have-agreed-to-deal-before-free-agency/ I think we all know who's responsible for this.
  4. Is that how it works? Any salary earned as a coach is deducted from the buyout? Depends on the contract, but from what I've read that is the case with Webers contract. Well that's fantastic. Problem is he probably lands at a mid-major for less than 1M, so we'll still be paying him something.
  5. I don't agree with this at all. Especially with regards to Thursdays. For real? Maybe Thursday isn't nearly as packed as the weekends but it's packed enough for McDonalds and Taco Bell to convert into parking lots like they tend to do on busy nights. That's really not that many spots. I'm still confused as to why anyone drives to Wrigleyville for the night unless they're spending the night somewhere. Maybe you should stop going to Barleycorn. Trace late night is the only place I can recall waiting in a line of more than a couple minutes during a non-gameday. Maybe I'm going out early(or late) enough to avoid crowds.

  7. How's the heroin stash looking Treebeard?

  9. I think he's said as much in the past. He was pretty terrible with Cleveland last year too.
  10. I'm sorry, he's not a honk, he's a tool.
  11. He's not choosing which school to jump to though, inertia isn't a trivial thing if the difference isn't huge. I'm not disputing that. That's why I said outside.
  12. What a honk.
  13. 99 outside coaches out of 100 would choose Illinois over Marquette. It's not a lateral move.
  14. Beyond the fact that it would suck, it would also make Kaplan right. It would be terrible.
  15. E-S-P-EENNNNNNNNNNNNN
  16. Like none of that post was accurate.
  17. You have to view this more as a signing bonus for a draft pick rather than a salary. It's obviously higher than any draft pick has gotten, but that's free agency.
  18. If the 27.5M is equally distributed, we're looking at 5.5M in '16 and 4.8125M in '17, followed by the normal arb process. He'll very likely be under team control through his age 29 season.
  19. It's the brow.
  20. Assuming he's not in the majors until after April 2014, he won't be a free agent until 2021. 2017 could possibly be the Cubs setting his salary, depending on whether he's a super 2(top 1/6 of service time for players with 2-3 years service time) or not. Gut instinct is that he won't be. So ideally: 12 - 13M 13 - 9M 14 - 2.9M 15 - 2.6M 16 - 2.08M 17 - 2.5M (Just a sign of good faith, could be as low as 1.82M) 18 - arb 1 19 - arb 2 20 - arb 3 21 - FA

  22. I think we have a much better chance at Smart than anyone else. I still want Grant, but I'm afraid he'll be too cost-prohibitive. Williams makes over 2M/Y as well, I'm not sure he'll leave without a raise, if just as a matter of pride, beyond the fact that he's comfortable there.
  23. You will probably see a handful of places that are barely scraping by close down, but in the end that could be a good thing. Sorry, I meant shuttered permanently, not just closed for the year.
  24. If it's not something that extreme it's a pretty crazy deal. So he'd be, what, 23 when he's arb eligible then? At this point, he's essentially like getting a top 10 draft pick, the difference being that by the time he's big league ready he'll have, what, 2 years left under team control? Ugh, no.
