  1. I think that comparing Pitt to the royals is a pretty bad analogy. Yeah but comparing someone of Sisco's size to goony's girlfriend is perfect. :)
  2. Agreed Sully, let's go back to wallowing over losing Sisco :( He can be stashed on the DL, but it's not exactly the NBA, a phantom injury putting Sisco on the DL isn't gonna be that easy.
  3. Actually, I think it's from the "Beane did it, so it must be the right decision" school of thought that causes the urge to :puker: Nope, everything's some form of revolution with Sully. maybe it's "Beane did it, so I desperately want it to fail or I'll rip my face off, gouge my eyes out and vomit on my baseball card collection because I've spent my life believing that sacrifice bunting is the be-all-end-all of team success and if I have to believe anything different I'll cease to exist" that causes it. Once again Sulley's amazing online psychological skills fail miserably. or, i hit a nerve which has caused you to insult me personally. good show, ryan. I insulted you personally by saying you don't know how I think? Or was it my response to your always condescending tone regarding Beane.
  4. When in doubt argue against Strawman Morgan. Much easier than defending the statement that "he must be pretty good if Billy Beane acquired him!" People were saying that Cruz must not be very good because the John Schuerholz, a successful gm, elected to trade him. It seems like a natural response to say then that he must be pretty good because Billy Beane, a successful gm, elected to trade for him. I guess I didn't see that angle of it. I stand corrected if that's his line of thinking.

  8. How do you feel about Charles Thomas?
  9. further evidence that this forum needs a puke emoticon. Agreed on the want to puke.
  10. But you weren't managing, Dusty was. Blame him for calling the sac bunt, don't blame Neifi for laying it down.
  11. He was 1 for 3 with a sacrifice. It's hard to rail on him for making an out when he was ordered to sacrifice. I too would expect Hairston to outdo a 333 OBP throughout the year, but Eaton was on today, I'm ecstatic that Neifi managed a hit. There's no excuse for Macias over Dubois. I don't considered the sacrifice out as a way to escape the 1 for 4. He was asked to sacrifice, b/c he is and has been a terrible hitter, hitting 2nd. I'm ecstatic Perez got a hit, more surprised than ecstatic, doesn't mean he should've been out there over a superior hitter like Hairston or even an unknown product like Fontenot. If Hairston or Walker wer in the game, they're sacrificing there. It was the tying run on 1st with nobody out and the 3-4-5 hitters due up next. It had nothing to do with Neifi's skills as a hitter other than that he's not a middle of the order guy.
  12. That's not what the debate comes down to though, because of options. because Sisco has some maturity problems, almost everyone will agree with that. To expect him to not mature as a pitcher and be ready to be a contributor in 3 years isn't that far-fetched.

  14. It starts his option clock meaning he'd have to clear waivers in 3 years if he was sent down. What remains unclear is whether the Cubs are required to add him to their 40 man roster if/when he returns or whether they can wait until next winter to do that. He most definitely does not have to be added to the 40 man. When he would get returned the Cubs, he wouldn't be using an option cause he'd be assigned to a minor league team, not optioned. The way I understand it, you only use an option when being sent down the minors from the 40 man. Since Sisco would never have been sent to the minors off the 40 man, no option would be used.
  15. He looked very good. Considering he was brought into a game with the Royals already trailing 7-1, it appears they are going to ease him in with mop up duty. I'm pretty sure at this point he's as good as gone. I wouldn't be so sure. There's 157 games to go and he has to stay on the roster for all of them. While he looked good tonight, he may not the next time he's used. Yeah, but they don't give a crap if he pitches effectively for them because their team sucks. Derrick Turnbow sucked as a Rule V pick. Miguel Asencio was bad for the Royals in '02 but they didn't care because they thought he had potential. Johan Santana winning the Cy Young gives even more incentive for crappy teams to hang onto high-ceiling players for their Rule V year. I said it when the draft went down, Sisco would be gone. Thank God we have Rohlicek and Randolph, though. I had thought Asencio was a rule V guy too, but I'm not so sure he is anymore. baseballreference has him being released by the White Sox in '01, and nothing after that. They do have other guys being picked in that years rule V though. Also, Asencio was a league average pitcher in '02.
  16. This coming from a man who thinks Dusty is a good manager and Hendry a competent GM. Right brah. Right. Look for 18-20 w's. 200+ K's and an ERA around 3.00. Place your bets now. And just for reference, this would involve Carpenter getting 3-5 more wins than his career high, ~50 Ks more than his career high, and .5 ERA lower than his career low. All at the age of 30. I'll keep that look out for it though!
  17. Dusty is nowhere close to the worst manager in baseball. Interpret that however you wish, but there's a lot of guys out there managing right now that I'd take Baker over.
  18. Me too...as a Cub. I'm not really too concerned with the possibility he could be returned to the Cubs. If they wouldn't protect him in the Rule 5 draft, I really don't think he would have much of a future with us even if was returned after a lashing in the major leagues. I've accepted the fact that he's gone. It's the Royals, and I actually think Sisco will pitch pretty decent this year. He's gone. Yeah just like Magglio Ordonez with the White Sox.
  19. The numbers are just their scores from last year for reference.

  21. I appreciate the offer nilo, but it's not necessary. I've got my 1 of my own plus 1 through my cousin and at least a few of the 5 my brother-in-law picked up. I'm planning on heading up to Milwaukee and to St. Louis for a game as well, so I'll have more than enough Cubs this summer. Thanks again though for the offer.
  22. I finally got thru after 6 agonizing hours. Got 6 in the bleachers for May 24th vs. the Stros. There's still tons of good seats out there.
  23. I got through once, and IE strikes again with javascript errors causing me to not get tickets. My brother-in-law called me up though to tell me he got 4 for the White Sox, 2 for the Cardinals and 4 for the Astros. Those combined with the 2 for the Sandberg game earlier, and I'm pretty happy.
