  1. They are a horrible team but they've battled intra divisional teams. I'm suspicious. Again, this same bad team swept the Brewers the last time they faced them. A healthy, Pujols, Rolen, Edmonds, Duncan, and Molina were in the lineup then.
  2. The Cardinals have what, two real hitters in that lineup? I doubt they'll put up 5 in this game. They scored 4 last night off of Oswalt/Quade/Lidge They had 20 hits on Saturday. This was all without Pujols in the lineup.
  3. Well, "Chuck" wasn't bad, I'll probably give it another shot next week. 98, do you agree that the Cards are a bad team? What would it take from them to convince you that they are in fact trying?
  4. This isn't about their team, this is about a pitcher who has been pretty good all year looking like crap . I could still see the Brewers finding a way to lose this game. Remember when Oswalt threw that game against us in July? I guess it's even now. Cause good pitchers pitching poorly = THROWING THE GAME That's hardly the same thing. The Astros and the Cubs aren't long-time rivals and Oswalt loves beating the Cubs (especially since he and Barrett got into it). There is definitely added intensity, they are playing a divisional game with playoff implications it's not like they are playing the Nationals. This is, largely, the same Cardinals team that swept the Brewers the last time they played them. That was your reasoning behind the Cards throwing it. One of their pitchers who is good is doing poorly. I'm pointing out that just maybe there could be some other reason, like the fact that pitchers much better than Wainwright could have bad games, even against offenses not as good as Milwaukee's. But yeah, he's probably just costing himself money by giving up runs on purpose to give a team with a mathematical 3% chance of overtaking the Cubs that extra 2% chance. Definitely worth it to him.
  5. Not but they're making fun of us for saying LaRussa, Wainwright, and the mayor of St. Louis are involved in a conspiracy to lose to the Brewers. With good reason.
  6. good thing Tony still has the pitcher in the 8th spot Wainwright's one of the best hitters left on the roster.
  7. Got anything relevant to the current team? Like that rant So Taguchi went on last week?
  8. Crafty Cards put a couple on base before ending the inning.

  10. In play, no out!!! Quick, Tony, PULL LUDWICK!!! He's not following the master plan!
  11. Yet those sad sacks managed to give the Astros all they could handle. They also played the Cubs tough but lost. This is just bad! OMG THE MIGHTY ASTROS???? They probably started Pujols that whole series too!!! Could the effort experts explain those last 3 Ks? Probably just Wainwright turning the switch back on, 4 runs was enough to stop the Cardinals offense from winning, so he can throw a perfect game now. Or something. God help us if the Cards come back and win, I guess that'll be the Brew just being that pathetic losing to the Cards who are actively trying to lose because they HATE THE CUBS
  12. Hey, remember those 3 games that the Braves weren't trying in, but no wait nevermind they took the lead, so now they're trying. YOU CAN LOSE A GAME AND STILL BE TRYING IN FACT IT'S USUALLY WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU'RE A DOGBLEEP TEAM LIKE THE CARDINALS. Good thing they tried so hard against us when we took 4 out of 5 against them. Nah, they were trying that time, we're just an unstoppable force and could beat even the mighty Cardinals when they tried.
  13. I can't handle this insanity anymore. The Cardinals were a bad team when they were healthy. Now they're injured and they're terrible. But no, they're not trying because everyone hates the Cubs. This crap is really annoying to read.
  14. Ya know, I was kinda planning on this keeping my attention tonight cause "Chuck" probably isn't gonna take care of that.
  15. Pujols only in the lineup cause he's the best at tanking games!!! STUPID CARDINALS!! Seriously, look at what the Cardinals have to play, there's NOTHING there. Pujols is playing on 1 leg, and they have their ace going. Though if they really cared they'd have Carpenter come out pitching lefty.
  16. Agreed, one of the best moments of Cubs games is Soriano's smile.
  17. What's your point? Where did I say otherwise? My point is that umpires aren't perfect. And my point is that they made two terrible calls in the 7th inning, both of which went against the Brewers, leading to 4 runs in an absolutely critical game. maybe, maybe not. You are free to make your points. You seem a bit up tight today. You're disputing that they were terrible calls? I am, but the pissing match is way more interesting.
  18. After much searching I found the Blanco re-signs thread. Quite a few Soto comments in there, though not as much freaking out as I rememberred. I did mention how I lost all my optimism in teh offseason though, and how I wanted nothing to do with Bengie Molina. viewtopic.php?t=36657&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0
  19. 10M's probably a little high for first year arb. I was thinking more 8.5M or so but that's really picking nits. I think the Brewers would be wise to lock him up through arb right now. Maybe pay him some more next year, so as to not have all their players making huge salary jumps at the same time.
  20. What do you mean? Are the lineups posted yet? The Cards have no choice but to play a junk lineup.
  21. Rich Hill had 50-60 IPs before he got it. Cust had ~180 PAs before he got it. Pena had 1900 PAs before this season.
  22. Watching it live, I thought they got screwed on the Tex single and the Francouer dive back to 2nd. Watching the replay and freeze framing, I'm pretty sure Tex was safe. Francouer, couldn't get a good angle of it, but it was definitely close. It was a nice deke by Francouer to stop short and go around, 50-50 he was out on that.
