  1. I believe, in the event of the playoffs, we'd be competing with a Yankees series and a Red Sox series as well for coverage. Fox is having a wet dream right now drawing up their Red Sox/Yankees Cubs/Mets Championship serieses. They're also dry heaving over Rockies/Diamondbacks and Angels/Indians
  2. 2 hours til the beginning of the rest of our lives.
  3. Agreed, CiNY. No enablers, no excuse makers this time around. No buffoons calling the shots, no incompetence from the pen. Get it done by the weekend.
  4. The Homefield advantage thing in '84 is a myth. It was rotating home field advantage back then, and it was the West's turn to have it. And Zambrano was pretty unremarkable in the '03 postseason, not to mention that he'd be pitching on 2 days rest. If you were gonna mess with the pitching you pull Prior after 5 in Game 2, bring him back in Game 5 with Z in relief. Pitch Clement in a potential game 7.
  5. Yes. If the Cubs clinch, both Z and Lilly will sit. If they somehow clinch before Friday (which I see as possible but not likely) then my guess is that they will likely still give Rich Hill his start so he isn't waiting too long before his start in the playoffs. Personally, I'd probably pitch Z on Friday even if the Cubs clinch and give Hill and Lilly time off. I want Z on as close to regular rest as possible so he doesn't come out too strong, and Hill has thrown a lot of innings for what he's used to this year so he could use the break. I think that if they clinch on Friday, Zambrano would still pitch on Saturday. Lilly will be your game 1 starter (Wednesday the 3rd) and then Zambrano with regular rest for game 2 (Thursday the 4th). Although another bad Zambrano start would raise some question marks about the rotation going into the postseason. I would still roll the dice, though. Zambrano on 8 days of rest=not good. Nah, I think hell or highwater, Z is the #1 guy for the team. If they can rest Z Saturday, they will. Hill will pitch Friday regardless of a miracle clinch by then.
  6. I believe Estrada is Kendall-like on defense, so this is probably an upgrade.
  7. Advanced Scout this year, something like 5th in the pecking order. People are speculating the Pirates convinced themselves to go with a Cleveland guy and when Antonetti refused to interview they went down the chain til Huntington.
  8. You clearly are accusing him of lots of things, none of which with any sort of proof besides the braindead ramblings of Stone.
  9. I'm hitting what you are pitching BBB but Cabrera also came up to the bigs when he was 20. I don't like this automatic assumption that every players who had a good/great year is on the juice. Roger Maris did em.
  10. Same here. I don't live in Chicago, but I know I'll at least be in Wrigleyville if the Cubs make it that far. I might even have a hook-up for tickets, so I've got all my fingers & toes crossed... My friends and I were all set to drive up from Iowa City in '03 just to soak up the atmosphere. Stupid Marlins. I did from Champaign for Game 7. :(
  11. I have to say my productivity has taken a dive since I don't work by my boss anymore.
  12. I wouldn't be shocked to see Pie or Jones in CF.
  13. I don't get this. after screwing up the double switch and getting ejected in April 2004, Dusty never again was ejected for his own actions (I believer there were a couple that happened automatically due to beanball wars). he decided that sticking up for his players was not important because he looked foolish in his sons eyes. I was talking about his blaming the umps for all their problems. Just as Dusty and his players did the 2nd half of ''04. Yost will never admit fault in a postgame interview. Oh he's a tactical buffoon too.
  14. Yost the 3rd Brewer tossed in a blowout. He's getting very Dusty like, passing the buck, now in the wins too.
  15. Yeah Cards aren't comin back in this one. Oh well, guess I get to keep HANCOCK'D as my fantasy team name. Take one this series plz.
  16. Wainwright battling in spite of LaRussa putting him in a hole with 2 pitch outs in one AB LaRussa you jackass.
  17. I have TBS on and they're still showing Reaper commercials. I can't escape it!!
  18. I think Pujols is maybe 50% right now, asking for a HR from him is a lot. Then again, a 50% Pujols is still pretty damn good.
  19. Duncan wasn't on the team in 2004. It wouldn't matter if it was Memphis. It's three baseball games. He was talking about the Cards sweeping the Brew in August. I'm making an unfunny joke about those dudes being healthy. I know what he's talking about. Well, not in general, but I know what series he meant there. I get jokes.

  21. LaRussa is gonna beat the crap out of Gary Bennett when he gets back to the dugout.
