  1. Maybe you should've said something along those lines in the original post. Rather than writing off his career.
  2. My only guess would be is that the Cubs are planning to trade Veal long before the Rule V (or 5, whichever it is) draft. Then the other team would have to roster him or risk losing a guy they just acquired. The only way this would affect Veal being traded is that if he's traded before the draft, he'll be included as a PTBNL based on whether he gets taken or not.
  3. Baseball also has a season (roughly) twice as long as the other bigs. There should be significantly less teams. I'd bet a lot of money that in my lifetime there will be playoff expansion. I'll argue against it every step of the way.
  4. Playing in the cold isn't that big of a deal. People are losing their [expletive] because they played a game in the rain this year.
  5. I want to know why supposed baseball people are determined to make baseball go by faster. No shortening the schedules, no cramming it into a shorter timeframe. I'd be fine with it played year round, the more baseball the better
  6. I've always been against letting more teams into the playoffs. It's not even really the playoffs, its a play in game. I guess I'm just a traditionalist but I feel like a division winner should be at an advantage over the WC winner. The thing is, the WC team can sneak into the playoffs and ride an ace or two to the championship, and I don't like that. I'm sure there are people that feel the other way though. But you're giving 10 teams a chance at the title after the regular season is over. Unless those 2 aces pitch the last day of the regular season and the 1 game playoff, you're still getting 3 starts out of them in a 5 game series.

  8. Adrian Beltre says "hi". Of course, we don't think Dempster was roiding it up.... Andruw Jones's 2007 asks what you guys are talking about.
  9. Based on expected return vs. real value, I think Rich Harden would be the last player in the organization I would trade.
  10. What, Harden or Lilly? Why? Harden makes less than Marquis, and IIRC the difference between Lilly and Marquis is like 1M. With the obsession with handedness there's no way they deal Lilly and go with an all righty rotation. With the franchise leaning towards not being incompetent bumbling fools of late, there's no way they'd trade Harden.
  11. I don't think he will ever become dominant but I think he can be a 15 point scorer and top assist player. His shooting seems to need work but Keaton Grant went from a crappy 3-pt shooter to one of the Big Ten's top ones. and then he'd be deron williams, who was dominant. Deron Williams never even averaged 15 points per game. i know. lewjack is a nice little player and is a good fit at purdue, but i don't think anyone should expect him to be able to get his shot off consistently. he could be top 3 in assists year in and out, though. I don't mean to disparage Lewjack, I think he could be a 6th man on a championship caliber team, but expecting much in the way of scoring from him is a big mistake. If Purdue is ever in the situation where Jackson is scoring 12 points per game, then Painter has failed as a recruiter.
  12. They'd need a personal janitor for Kaplan at the CSN studios if they got Figgins.

  14. Seriously guys, Kaplan is a buffoon, he hasn't a clue what he's talking about.
  15. Ha, Blake Griffin was homeschooled.
  16. Dave Kaplan is a sensationalist hack. And a buffoon.
  17. I don't think he will ever become dominant but I think he can be a 15 point scorer and top assist player. His shooting seems to need work but Keaton Grant went from a crappy 3-pt shooter to one of the Big Ten's top ones. Scoring 15 pts/game and being near the top of the league in assists is dominant. I'll eat your hat if LewJack ever averages 15 pts/game. I'd put less than even money on him averaging double digits ever.
  18. I'm not sure LewJack is going to be able to become a player at the big ten level due to his size. That's a pretty big obstacle to overcome, especially in a conference that allows defenders to punch a guy in the face as long as they're on their homecourt.
  19. NSBB Says: 1. Pedroia: 70 (2) 2. Mauer: 65 (2) 3. Youkilis: 56 (2) 4. Sizemore: 54 5. A-Rod: 43 (1) 6. Hamilton: 33 7. Bradley: 31 8. Morneau: 28 (1) 9. Quentin: 25 10. Kinsler: 17 11. Lee: 11 12. Longoria: 7 12. Cabrera: 7 14. Roberts: 5 15. Upton: 4 15. Pena: 4 17. Halladay: 3 17. Granderson: 3 19. Ibanez: 2 8 for 8 with BBWAA and the IBA.
  20. That being said, there is no way UNC loses to UK I would say if they feed Patterson the ball relentlessly, they might have a chance They're not playing VMI, I'm pretty sure UNC can limit Patterson some.
  21. Ken Griffey is a worse defensive OF than Adam Dunn.
  22. Caridad doesn't need to be protected does he?
