  1. ESPN did their little 10 years draft, drafting a player based on how they will do over the next 10 years. They had 30 experts and 30 fans pick their top 30. Castro went 9th for the experts and didn't get picked by the fans. It was hilarious.
  2. Just saw the Barney Walk Off! It was awesome! You know how they say act like you've been there before, well Barney hasn't and probably won't again and he acted like it. Made it a sweet sight to see! :yahoo:
  3. The starting pitcher on the games we ended the losing streaks: Wood
  4. How many times do you see it, man makes amazing play to keep the lead then gets and key rbi insurance run but gets thrown out at 2nd?
  5. Did the pitching change really happen in the middle of Hill's AB or did gameday mess up?
  6. My Wedding is in 2 months! What does that have to do with getting yourself a girlfriend? Waiting until after the wedding?
  7. My Wedding is in 2 months!
  8. Edit: I will say it was somewhat interesting data to read although I don't know what conclusions you can draw for it. I went through the play by plays of the games. I hurt my foot this past week and had some bed rest. I know there is much that can be drawn from it because there is a lot of variables. Like one homer can give credit to the whole group or the 3 guy can get on and the 4, 5, and 6 hitter could be the guys doing the work. Also the 4, 5, 6 guys could leave runners straded after the first 3 set the table properly. But like someone said earlier Barney over Campana? I was so surprised. I thought DeJesus-Campana-Castro was doing way better than it showed. It's crazy that DeJesus-Campana-Castro did so well especially when LaHair was batting 5th or 6th a little bit during Barney's run at the 2, while Campana has LaHair at the 4 spot. LaHair being pitched artound and Soriano and Stewart failing could be one answer. It took some time to put together so i didn't get detailed. I will say i was surprised by how many trios only came up once. It was crazy, but it makes sense since we haven't had a consistent set of 9 for our lineup.
  9. So the other day the Cubs were losing to the White Sox and I saw our line-up that was due to bat in an inning and thought that trio isn't producing a run. So I decided to look up what group does score most often. I will note that I realize this is flawed because sometimes it's the 4,5,6 hitter who determine who scores or that one homer will give the who group credit. Oh Well. Here are my results: These trios got 1 chance so far this year and did not produce a run: Stewart-Baker-Byrd, Baker-Byrd-Soto, DeWitt-DeJesus-Barney, Johnson-Stewart-Baker, Byrd-Barney-Garza, Mather-Castro-Soriano, Barney-LaHair-Johnson, Soriano-Baker-Soto, Byrd-Clevenger-Samardzija, Byrd-Barney-DeJesus, Stewart-Castro-DeWitt, Garza-DeJesus-Barney, Byrd-Samardzija-DeJesus, Stewart-Baker-Soto, Soriano-Stewart-Baker, Stewart-LaHair-Clevenger, Castro-Mather-Stewart, LaHair-Clevenger-Johnson, Soto-Byrd-Dempster, LaHair-Soto-Clevenger, Byrd-Dewitt-Dejesus, Mather-DeJesus-Barney, Soto-Byrd-Maholm, Mather-Soto-Byrd, Castro-Baker-Stewart, Johnson-Castillo-Bowden, Stweart-Mather-Soto, LaHair-Byrd-Dempster, Soriano-Baker-Stewart- Byrd-Garza-Johnson, Mather-johnson-Barney, DeWitt-Soriano-Baker, Stewart-Clevenger-DeWitt, Matherr-Maholm-DeJesus, Johnson-Mather-Campana, Wells-DeJesus-Campana, Wells-DeJesus-Barney, Hill-Wells-DeJesus, Mather-Garza-DeJesus, Castro-Soriano-Baker, Soto-Johnson-Mather, Mather-Campana-DeJesus, Barney-Soto-DeWitt, Soriano-Stewart-Clevenger, Volstad-DeJesus-Campana, Clevenger-Barney-Dewitt, Soto-Maholm-DeJesus, Stewart-Johnson-Castillo, Garza-Campana-Barney, Casrto-LaHair-Baker, Mather-Castillo-Barney, Mather-Castillo-DeJesus, DeWitt-Soto-Volstad, Stewart-DeWitt-Soto, Soto-Barney-DeJesus, Barney-Soto-Johnson, Stewart-Johnson-Soto, Johnson-soto-Mather, Barney-Soto-Volstad, Soto-Campana-DeJesus, DeWitt-DeJesus-Mather, Stewart-Johnson-Barney, Soto-Cardenas-Johnson, Barney-Coleman-DeJesus, Soto-Cardenas-Barney, Johnson-Baker-Castro, Garza-Johnson-Baker, Soriano-Mather-Castillo, Barney-Garza-Johnson, Soriano-Castillo-Campana, Johnson-DeJesus-Castro, Stewart-Soto-Barneym Soto-Barney-Samardzija, Soto-Barney-Dempster, Barney-Baker-DeJesus, Barney-Cardenas-DeJesus, Stewart-Lalli-Barney, Mather-Hill-Dempster, Mather-Hill-Cardenas, Campana-Johnson-Barney, Barney-Hill-Mather, Garza-DeJesus-Campana, Castro-lalli-Mather, Lalli-Wood-DeJesus, Wood-DeJesus-Johnson, Castro-Soriano-Mather, Barney-Lalli-LaHair, Johnson-Castro-Soriano, Mather-Cardenas-Barney, Campana-DeJesus-Johnson, Hill-LaHair-DeJesus, K.Wood-Castillo-Barney That's 78 different combos that only got one chance and didn't get a run! Here are trios that went 0-2 Dempster-DeJesus-Barney, Lahair-Byrd-Clevenger, Byrd-Dempster-DeJesus, Byrd-Mather-DeJesus, Baker-Soto-Byrd, Johnson-DeJesus-Barney, Stewart-Soto-DeWitt, Baker-Soto-Johnson, Barney-Volstad-DeJesus, Soriano-Stewart-Johnson, Soto-Samardzija-DeJesus, DeJesus-Mather-Castro, Mather-Castro-LaHair, Cardenas-Dempster-DeJesus, LaHair-Stewart-Soto, Cardenas-Barney-Maholm, Barney-Maholm-DeJesus, Barney-Garza-DeJesus, Hill-Maholm-DeJesus, Samardzija-DeJesus-Johnson There's 20 more combos that were scoreless. Here's the rest of the scoreless trios in no order: Soriano-Stewart-LaHair 0 for 6 Barney-Castro-Soriano 0 for 3 Stewart-Soto-Byrd 0 for 3 Johnson-Barney-Castro 0 for 3 Soriano-Stewart-Barney 0for 3 Samardzija-Dejesus-Campana 0 for 3 LaHair-Soriano-Mather 0 for 7 LaHair-Soriano-Baker 0 for 3 Soriano-Stewart-Cardenas 0 for 3 Mather-Baker-Barney 0 for 4 10 more Combos. Clevenger-Johnson-Garza 2 for 2 8 Runs! Probably wasted my time but thought I'd share.
  10. Watching Koyie Hill think he hit a HR was worth the 1%.
  11. About 10 minutes ago there was a 0% percent chance we would score in the 9th. Now there is a 99% chance we'll score now that a run won tie the game.
  12. Any reason Wood didn't get the chance to finish the 6th other than the 97 pitches? Shame he gets the loss.
  13. Well I think if he's hitting Batters Dale has to go to the pen, but who do we have there Kerry? Marmol? Lendy? Not very good options.
  14. :oldbluekoolaid: Give me some of the Barney Kool-Aid!
  15. Batting order doesn't really matter. The fact that he's playing just about every day kind of negates the notion that he's been "jettisoned" in any way shape or form. this is good to know because all this years we have complained about our leadoff guy, and made fun of managers that wanted to put Soriano there, all along it really never mattered. I know you are just jumping in halfway through, so please understand..I have not said anything about anyone being better. I only wondered why it seems that Barney is getting moved out. Instead of ridicule, a great answer may have been- They see Barney as an 8 hole hitter in the future on hopefully a much better team. OK, that would make sense. My question was why is he sent to 8th, when other players are doing far worse than Barney has done. I also wondered why he has been out of the lineup now 6 times over the last 19 games despite his stat line going up. To me it seems like they are working to replace him. I can certainly think of many other spots that seem to be much more glaring weakness comparatively. He's been out of the lineup 5 times over the last 19 games. He's been out of the lineup 7 times all freaking year, and he's Darwin Barney. are you making things up, guessing or simply can't read? 1)April 15- DNP- did not play 2)April 22 DNS-did not start 3)April 30 DNS 4)May 2 DNS 5)May 8 DNP 6)May 20 DNS 7)May 21 DNP So that is 7 times this season, and 6 times in the last 20 games (not the original 19) April 30 to yesterday. Part of the point is exactly what you state. In the first 21 games he sat once, in last 20 games he sat 6 times. That seems like a change and it strikes me as odd considering his stats over that period are way up, and yes better than stewart's huge hot streak that everyone wants to use as proof that he's actually good. Yes, he's Darwin Barney, who happens to be out performing most of our other starters. Like Dejesus OBP % eventual drop off you had to expect Barney's games played to dropp off. Did you really think he could keep the pace up? It's his second year man, a decline is expected.
  16. Barney batse 8th because Soriano/Stewart/Hill(or Soto or Lalli or castillo think about it only Clevenger could get on base Barney was demoted when Clevenger got hurte) are auto outs. Barney will then lead off innings making him a pseudo lead off man. We get to test out Dejesus and Barney's lead-offe powers. Barney has the pitcher behinde him to bunt him over(unless dEwITT pinch hits) and DeJesus has Campana to bunt him over. So we are kind of testing out bothe players as lead offe hitters. Hope that explains thins Neely. :)
  17. There's just something I like about this Cubs team. Let's get on a roll! I mean get above .500 and then some roll.
  18. Lets see if i can describe this right. In a game where it would've been crushing to lose, we won when we should've, even though we shouldn't have because the stl made worse plays even though they catch all the breaks. :-k Something like that.
