  1. Will they bring back Larry, to be the pitching coach- Or is it time to move on, 'fore Z's arm turns to toast? I don't know why I'm worried, Z's stronger than dog's breath. No one could really hurt him- not even Tyson at his best.
  2. The Cubs hired Lou Piniella- he likes to yell at umps. Maybe he'll raise the Cubbies- outta the N L dumps. I hope he's not another- old-school baseball man, who knows less about OBP, than the average fan.
  3. I'm off this weekend and had delusions of taking my three year old son to one of the Detroit games, but face value was out of our price range for an impromptu trip like this. I knew scalped tickets would be really high, but I had no idea teams jacked up playoff tickets that much.
  4. To take this in another direction, could some players be on PED's during their contract years, as opposed to some who are/ were on them for years at a time?
  5. Then you need to give 110% next time.
  6. Guys like Jeter give 110%, but it looks like 120-130% when they play next to guys like A-Rod who only give 80%. Soriano gives 92%. When he's on the Nationals, that looks like 130%, because everyone on that team averages about 80%, except for Austin Kearns, who gives 110% because he's from Kentucky and that's how we roll.
  7. So how the heck much will he cost anyone else?
  8. Munson's who I thought of when I heard about this. I was 9 years old, at a Tiger game after he died and they held a moment of silence. I remember to this day how amazed I was as a kid that such a hush could fall over a stadium full of people.
  9. Doesn't look like he's on the list of Rockies sent to Hawaii: 2B Eric Young, Jr. OF Cole Garner OF Dexter Fowler P Adam Bright P Chin Lung Lo P Shane Lindsay I play softball with his older brother, I'll have to check and see what happened on Tuesday. Maybe they sent him somewhere else or just want him to workout in the offseason and take it easy on the arm.
  10. I thought Chaz Roe, right handed pitcher for the Rockies (from my hometown) was going to Hawaii, but I can't find anything on him.
  11. I was smart enough to draft Grossman, but too dumb to start him until last week.
  12. No, that's Cabrera, or Abreu, or ARod. I wouldn't be upset with any of those, either. Or a combination thereof.
  13. People have to stop talking about Drew. The thought of him in center or right makes me very happy and I'm not prepared for the inevitable disappointment. In my opinion, aside from some injury history, he's the perfect player for what the Cub offense lacks.
  14. That's an interesting claim. Hey, he's as much America as apple pie.
  15. I really like the Tigers, my other favorite team- they just beat the Yankees, man it's like a dream. Seeing all the players, rejoicing with the fans- makes me wish I was there, partying in the stands.
  16. The Tigers beat the Yankees, I think that's really great- Once again 'ol A-Rod, struggled "close & late" There' only one solution, to get the Yanks back in the game- trade him to the Cubbies, for a player-to-be-named.
  17. BP had an article on this very thing about a month ago. I think they attributed it to his sticking to so many fastballs and missing the big part of the bat, so he's not worrying about it. I talked to my brother-in-law and I wonder if they don't have him holding off on the number of breaking balls as another precaution for his arm. I don't know what it is, but with his stuff it is surprising the k's aren't higher. If he is holding back, or if he has a pitch he's not comfortable in the bigs with yet (I thought I read somewhere that he threw a knuckle-curve in the minors and college) then it could be scary what the guy may do in the next few years.
  18. This is not a Cub ho-down, but I'm getting to the point where I may post one every day. I like Joel Zumaya, he throws the ball real hard- He just beat the Yankees, in their own back yard- Now he's back in Detroit, might pitch again tonight- I hope Derek Jeter, pees his pants with fright.
  19. I'm no Charlie Sheen.
  20. well done =D> Downers Grove, eh? That, or Darien are great places to go. At least they have large shopping stores. If you expect to shop in like Hinsdale/Willowbrook, (Where I live)... Good luck. All we have is a lousy Target store. Target is boring. Did you know Denise Richards is from Downers Grove? I did know that. Lots of pretty girls from there, not the least of which Mrs. wade!
