  1. I'm not sure what you're trying to get at. I've shown you proof that the Cubs hit and score in clutch situations. But they can't pitch at all in those same situations. But because you were pessimistic after the bullpen blew the lead, you want to throw out the stats and say you have no faith in a comeback? You have every right to feel pessimistic about this team...I sure am. But I think you're focusing it on the wrong area of the team. Ok...stats don't lie. But I'm talking about perception. When I watch the Red Sox or the Angels, I see a team confident in its abilities...teams that can win when down in the 8th or 9th. You're talking about perception and you cite two winning teams. I think if you follow a team that is 10 games over .500, you're going to see more come from behind victories because they have way more victories.
  2. 'Bout time. They make some dumb signings in Detroit, but cut them loose or stop playing them pretty quick, comparitively speaking.
  3. Can someone gimme a link to a video of this? I'm struggling...
  4. I'll be at one of those games!
  5. two today
  6. Where's Adrian Beltre?
  7. And here I thought everyone was glad I posted earlier today.
  8. Yes, but Eyre's contract gets in the way. If he refuses to go on the DL, they either have to trade or release him. They aren't likely to be willing to eat that money for this year and next year unless they absolutely have to-they'd rather keep him, hope he gets better, and then either keep him or raise his trade value. :x Holy cow, Omar. I just saw that you are in Romeoville. My father-in-law always jokes that I have that town "wired" 'cause my batchelor party was at Crazy Rock (I think that was the name) and we won money ever time we went to the OTB (which is now closed). I even have a Spartans t-shirt.
  9. right, to play where? As the clubhouse attendant in charge of getting the Cubs roids and avoiding detection. Heck, I could do that- HGH. They don't even test for it in MLB and it's supposed to be the berries. Now, if I can just find a supplier...
  10. 'Cause it's the Yankees.
  11. And, as I'm sure this has been mentioned elsewhere, Clemens has had the same deal for the past few years, just not for the Yankees where every single move is analyzed ad nauseum.
  12. Adam Dunn is on pace for 43 homers and 27 steals. C'mon Narron, TURN HIM LOOSE ON THE BASEPATHS!
  13. They said that?!? Please. OPS+ Crede 108 Ramirez 126 And last year was Crede's best year. Idiots. They've been saying it since 03 when the Cubs got ARam. But that doesnt have hustle and defense factored in!!!!!! Don't forget the dirty uniform.
  14. Once they get ARod and Cabrera, sure. Dude, the last thing we need is more right handed batters.
  15. Another homer, another stolen base. Will the Dunner be a 40/40 man?
  16. Yep. I'm sure alot of kids use milk-carton's for gloves. If poor kids in Chicago woulda thought that way we'd of never had 16 inch softball.
  17. As in years past, I'll be wating by the phone- just in case.
  18. Isn't the milk-carton for glove story just like Sammy?
  19. Goony is Jersey Cubs Fan. Now I feel the same way I felt the first time I saw "The Usual Suspects". He becomes a myth, a spook story that sabermetricians tell their kids at night. "De-emphesize OBP, and Goony's Evil Twin will get you." And no-one ever really believes.
  20. I KNEW HE'D HIT ONE!
  21. This is a bump for the Dunner. He hasn't homered in a while, so I'm thinking several this week.
  22. C'mon, give me more Tiger-love. They have exciting young pitching and they could potentially keep the Sox out of the playoffs! Plus, they have the best home uniforms in baseball.
  23. I think Soriano and Lee will get their homeruns. As for the rest, I have no such faith in much of a turnaround, barring rookie of the year type performance by Pie and some sort of solution at SS and the continued better than expected pitching by Lilly and Marquis and , nevermind.
  24. The Detroit Tigers have a reliever named Fernando Rodney who's blown 4 games already this year himself. Despite this, they are tied for the lead in their division. I don't know what that means. Maybe it means the close games will even out eventually. Maybe it means Detroit can overcome bullpen blowups because they are way better than the Cubs. I don't know, but it's pretty frustrating when just an average performance in an inning here or there could put the Cubs at .500 right now.
  25. He's on pace for 38 homers. AND 38 steals! :D
