  1. Actually, a huge list of wrestlers got stuff from them, including the recently deceased Chris Benoit and Eddie Guerrero. Wade Wilson also got nailed. Ditto Rodney Harrison. This mess is only getting started. This "ring" is definitely going to turn out to be bigger than BALCO. I'm curious to see if the scrutiny will be as large. As opposed to BALCO, this place has murders linked to it.
  2. Actually, baseball players probably just looked at any other sport on T.V. and thought it was no big deal, since they all do this crap! The ironic part is that the owners may have thought all the power was good for the game until they signed one of these guys and he went from 40 to 25 HR's. Yeah, there's probably very few owners in any sport that care if their guys use PED's. Unless they get caught, or have to stop.

  4. I think this is the same pharmacy that the wrestler got his stuff from. But I'm sure Rick didn't know what he was doing was wrong.
  5. Are you suggesting that Ankiel didn't seek HGH out, but instead the doctor gave it to him? That's the gist I'm getting from this post. Is it way off-base? I don't really know what you're trying to get at (I'm dense). I'm saying that there is a reason that drugs are prescribed by doctors, cannot be bought by just anyone. Doctors are trained to diagnose health issues, and prescribe medicine for those issues. Patients are NOT expected to have that level of knowledge of the drug. That is why we have doctors. Yes Ankiel knew that he was getting HGH. But if the doctor is the one who is accountable, why do we have doctors? I think the legal issue starts there. I think you're wrong, and I'm pretty sure it would be a tough sell legally to suggest that responsibility for one's body is effectively turned over to an outside party by accepting a prescription slip. Especially if the prescription slip was obtained from an on-line pharmacy selling drugs illegally. You don't just stumble onto those.
  6. So, Rick didn't go to the doctor for an annual and the doc said "man, you look rough, let me get you some HGH." Instead, he bought from an on-line pharmacy that's been busted for selling PED's illegally to athletes who have been suspended. Sounds like a big misunderstanding to me. :D If Rick just played football, he'd serve his suspension and the whole thing would blow over with little fanfare. On the flipside, if he was about to break a hallowed record he'd probably be villified.
  7. I thought that it was legal back then. I may be wrong but I remember a SI article come out around that time where WR David Boston talked about using them cause they were legal at the time. I'm pretty sure a synthetic growth hormone would not have been available over the counter at any time. If David Boston had it, some quack prescribed it for him. David Boston legitimately would need HGH about as much as Hulk Hogan would.
  8. I'm not sure. I bet not many doctors prescribe it to mid-twenty guys who are good athletes in the real world.
  9. Or how do we know that was his only source for performance enhancers?
  10. But, he got a prescription from a doctor to use a drug and that doctor illegally prescribed stuff to bunches of people who were getting their performance enhancers from him. I don't think that gets you off the hook completely.
  11. Yeah, where to start ... Oh I know, how about that he hit those ten homers at a greater rate than the 21? Was he using steroids in 2001 when he hit 10 homers in 105 at-bats as a part-time DH, or in 2005 when he hit 21 in 311 at-bats after he gave up pitching? I think one could speculate that he was indeed using back then. If he ordered a year's supply of HGH in 2004, why would he stop taking it in 2005? Because it was illegal then? Maybe, I guess. One thing I find interesting about this story- and warning here- I have no facts to back this up, just theory- He's getting some sympathy, and not just here- Mike Golic said this morning that hey, the guy was recovering from surgery about that time, it's not like he was in great shape and took something to be even better (I guess read Barry Bonds/ Giambi into that) he was just a poor fella trying to get better and have another shot at MLB. But my theory is this- I'll wager that a high, high percentage of HGH users have used steroids. And I'll wager that very few steroid users in comparison have used HGH. Steroids are far easier to get. I'm not sure what any of that means, but the argument that HGH wasn't banned in 2004 is pretty close to the steroids weren't banned in 2001 argument. And, I'd be stunned if a guy used HGH and never ever touched a steroid.
  12. I suspect that anyone who has used HGH has at one point dabbled in steroids. These stories are just gonna keep coming up. Of course, Rodney Harrison's suspended for a quarter of the season in NFL and I just haven't heard much about that around the watercooler.
  13. I saw that score on my cbssportsline live scoring (unfortunately I don't have any Rangers) and couldn't believe it. Wow.
  14. Wow. I can't believe they're bringing Maybin up now. I guess he'll play center and they'll slide Granderson to left. Pretty good D there.
  15. Caesar Izturis led off for the Pirates tonight. That's right, he's batting leadoff.
  16. Marty B. on his call in show Friday before the game said he wasn't allowed to speculate on trades, that it could be seen as tampering. I don't know.
  17. That's what I heard on T.V., although I thought Brenneman was the radio guy. They were saying 'could be' , but that doesn't seem like SOP to me.
  18. I'm so blinded by love I didn't see it!
  19. The FSN guys broadcasting the game today (Reds - Cubs) were going on and on in the ninth how Adam Dunn may have made his last at-bat at Great American Ballpark. They didn't speculate on a destination, but it sounded like they new something, but that dosn't mean it's so.
  20. PHE - NOMINAL
  21. I know this is a lie because if he puched you you'd be dead and unable to post this.
  22. The next post will be someone who saw the Dunner at O'Hair with a bunch of suitcases and when asked why he's not in Cincy he'll reportedly smile and say "watch the news tonight". Every year this happens and it's been Dunn already a couple of times (coming with Danny Graves two years ago). I'll gladly eat crow on this one, but I don't expect to have to.
  23. I would like to know why, as well. I was in a bar and the closed caption had Marshall going out west for Kendall twice, in contrast to the bottom line. I'm confused.
  24. http://redlegnation.com/2006/07/27/redleg-nation-radio-episode-2/#comments I'm pretty sure this has been posted before. If not, then I expect to be POTY 2007.
  25. Adam Dunn broke the scoreboard in Shea Stadium today with a 460 foot bomb.
