  1. Is this up on FJM yet? I know Soriano's not one of the best 5 players in baseball and is probably overpayed. But to say you'd bat him 8th, but can't because he's not disciplined is nuts. He's a 30 homer a year guy that in a good year will bat .300 and a bad year bat .275. His OBP sucks. That's a fact. But he's not an 8 hitter.
  2. I agree, but I don't remember him hitting any real bombs last year. This year it seems like he's really laying into the ball. Good to see. what do you know? you always have your back to the action Are we still talking about baseball?
  3. Lee already has three homers. Hopefully it was his wrist holding him back last year. It certainly would help if he was dominant again.
  4. How many times did he contradict himself there?
  5. Yep, they shoulda pulled Edwin and put Freel in to move the runners over.
  6. He didn't stare at today's homer long enough before running.
  7. I also like the Tigers and yes, I'm freaking out. Bullpen's no good, starting pitching has no depth.
  8. Another thing to remember with Lee is that his '05 season had an incredibly hot start. That was something he hadn't done before, he usually was so dismal in April that his stats in Florida would have been better if not for that.
  9. I read an article, though I don't remember where, that talked about wrist injuries and lingering effects on the batter. It said that you're looking at a minimum of one year before the hitter's strength starts to come back and something like 18 monts for full recovery. I think the injury in 2006 was still effecting him during at least the first half of 2007. I don't know that he'll ever repeat 2005, since the power numbers were quite a bit higher than what he'd done before, but I think there's potential to get close.
  10. Coulda tried to trade for Willitis, but got Reed already.
  11. I see what you're saying and its not a simple call. However, there were probably opportunities (especially up 7 runs like that one game BBB mentioned) where you could watch him a little. I remember this, the Tigers flat out skipped Verlander two years ago in the middle of a pennant race, (though they had the wildcard as a back up). I know that he was coddled though, and it was during an important stretch of the season.
  12. What the hell. They do know we have Theriot playing short, right? So, wait, why isn't DeRosa considered a gritty B.A. like theriot is? I mean he's white, he even has the 5 o clock shaddow beard half the time... Derosa is a decent hitter. Gritty players are generally poor hitters or have a last name of Jeter.
  13. PM me your address! :pig: Just give me yours if I lose and I'll drive it to you.
  14. What should have been in 84 I hope happens in 08. HA, good point.
  15. Are the Cubs on the cover again? 8-[ And if it's a Tigers-Cubs series I will be in heaven.
  16. If he doesn't top .713 ops for this season (barring injury) I'll give everyone that reads this thread a hybrid SUV.
  17. http://redlegnation.com/2008/03/24/fantasyland/ Dusty 'babies' young pitchers, according to him.
  18. It's been amazing watching the Tigers the past 4 or 5 years. They went out on a limb and overpaid for Pudge then Maggs (though Maggs did well last year). Those signings were forced since no one would play for them for close to what others were paying since Detroit was so lousy. Then they started drafting and paying above slot. Then they started trading. The Shef trade was taking on a old vet and giving up a lot (though at least one of the highly regarded pitchers in that deal has elbow problems I think). The Rent trade was good, now this one where they not only get an innings eater but a superstar and extend them both. Hell, the extension to Granderson is a good deal too.
  19. They're spoken for right now, but I can let you know if something happens.
  20. Tell me about it. I'd be going and using them myself if I could! :D
  21. another bump, waiting to hear back from someone with interest, but these are still out there. I don't want to go ebay and would rather sell them here.
  22. What a great job by Detroit. This also makes the fact that they gave up a ton for him all the more justified because they'll have him for a long time, not just two years. At those yearly salaries, unless a ton is deferred, he wouldn't even be hard to trade in 4-5 years if he maintains his level of play.
  23. bump these tickets need a good home.
  24. Well, I'm not hearing from the poster that wanted these and I'm getting nervous since I have to ship these from KY. I've pmed him a couple of times and haven't heard back, so I guess these are back up for grabs. about 45 per ticket gets me my money back. You can post here or pm me if you want for any questions or takers.
  25. I think Girraritano (sp?) was released by Detroit. If he's who I'm thinking of he dislocated his throwing arm and his MLB career is likely done.
