  1. Affeldt has a lot talent - we aren't going to get him for Trinidad Hubbard. Maybe Hendry can work his magic. MAYBE THEY SHOULD GIVE US AFFELDT FOR STEALING SISCO!!!!

    Macias

Macias should be a fan favorite - like Doug Dascenzo, except Macias is better. I wonder why everyone loved Doug and all those other short, scrappy ballplayers but they hate Macias? I wonder what the difference is?

    Macias

He touched .290 after that first hit. Some people have a preferred 25th man - Teddy "Ballgame" Williams.
  4. Well that's terrible, just plain wrong, and quite frankly anti-American.
  5. I wouldn't have any problem with that. The only thing I'd worry about is Affeldt is similar to Remmy in that he gets out righties better than lefties. We all know the problems that Dusty seems to have in understanding this phenomenon. I'm not a huge Affeldt fan. He's 26, which gives him some time, but he's getting rocked away from pitcher friendly Kaufmann this year. Last year he had a .300+ BAA too. Is Kaufman really pitcher friendly? It was Coors East until they moved the fences back in for the start of 2004. That slowed the run scoring, but is it all the way to 'pitcher friendly' as opposed to nuetral now? Affeldt did very well for KC in 2003 too. I wouldn't object to Affeldt at all. Experience, talent, potential - could turn out to be very good if he stays healthy. Really good stuff.
  6. False yes, wasn't Hoops poster of the year in 2003? But it was kinda funny. The Sox were crazy not to go after Randa. He would have been a perfect fit and not that expensive. Totally - good call. As said, the Sox big change has been in their pitching, and if I had Marte (especially with his contract situation) I wouldn't trade him with my top pitching prospect for Huff.
  7. I'm sitting behind my desk and wasn't able to watch the game today. Describe the hit he had today that drove in the tying run, por favor. The rf lost it in the sun. It still would have scored the run from 3rd if caught though. Murton did what he needed to do. Holla would have K'd for the 4th time. Definitely the key. Even with an out that pinch hit AB was a success. But why was it scored a hit if it was routine and the OFer lost it in the sun?
  8. Man, we have to come back in all 3 games vs. the Giants? This was not the steamrolling I hoped for. What happened to the offense?
  9. 2 extra inning games in a row. Z looking strong. I'd stick with him too.
  10. Dennis "Savoir Faire" Savard on the radio broadcast.
  11. One step closer to making August Matt Murton Appreciation Month a reality. Also one step closer to not scoring....
  12. LOL, Dallas was overrated as a tv show. Larry Hagman was better in "I Dream of Jeannie." Sue Ellen's hotter than Jeannie ... Now you're just being argumentative. Hard to believe, but I could really dig a gal in a bikini saying "Ohhhh, yes master!" to me repeatedly.

  14. Huff is a second half player typically. He's a good hitter who got off to a particularly bad start. It's a very steep price, but like you said they have Crede who can fill in defensively in the late innings if they want. I'm surprised they'd trade Marte - good relievers are hard to find, plus he's signed thru 2006 with club options for '07 and '08. If matching that is the price I'd say no thank you.
  15. Dude, can you refrain from attempting to goad people into insipid arguments for five minutes? take your argument up in a thread about Jose and stop wasting space in here about it. I thought it was interesting that Macias is hitting a very good .290. I figured a lot of people must be unaware, considering the bashing of him. Then say that. your post is clearly geared toward pissing everyone off instead. I was going for both - a little payback for all the dumb 'Macias sucks' posts I had to read. I think I achieved it. :yeah:

  17. I'd rather hear productive discussions than the usual endless complaining. Z holds the lead.
  18. Uhh.... .265/.285/.377. Not picking on you, because I have recently read multiple articles stating, that Neifi has been "great" for us this year. I'm confused how the above line is anything more than atrocious, especially for a team in the wild-card hunt. You would think that teams in our position would be the most likely to try and ride the hot hand, and not stick to guys like Perez. He's a shortstop. He's our backup shortstop. He has a lot of rbis and a pretty fair BA for a SS - he's not Babe Ruth however. and yet dusty wants to continue to play him over nomar when he returns. Yeah right. You're taking him too literally. I give Dusty a lot of credit for a quote like that: He knows he's going to get flack but he still backs his players. When Nomar returns there's no doubt he'll get the lion's share of the PT but Dusty won't diss Neifi, who's done a better than expected job for the team, by saying so publically. When Neifi loses his spot, and he will if Nomar is healthy, that's when Dusty will say so - way to avoid controversy in the clubhouse Dusty. Nomar's not even there so it's all speculation anyway. 20. Macias is now batting .290!!! God he sucks so badly! It makes me so mad!! How can he be starting on a day game after a night game that lasted until 1 am when he's only hitting .290? AUGGHHHHHH!!!
  21. I really can't wait 'til Dusty leaves - these threads are going to be half as long and far more enjoyable to read.
  22. They'd play him at third ya gotta believe. That's a steep price - it would fill their needs offensively tho.
  23. But speaking is an action....
  24. Once again, I'm half-rooting for Holla to fail so a rookie can play.
