  1. It'd be fair, but Hill sure looks pretty good. And we've lost lefties Sisco, Willis and Jones recently. Nolasco didn't do to well at AAA. Maybe we can wait them out and give them a lesser lefty prospect like Piggy instead. Just being nitpicky, but don't you mean Pinto? Nolasco's not a lefty. Oops - thanks for the correction. The Cubs have been reported to have been so keen on getting a lefty in the rotation but we keep trading them. I'd rather not give up Pinto either, but it is tempting.

  3. Initially, my response is a resounding NO! But the more I think about it, I might would do a Zambrano for a package that includes Dunn. If I could send Zambrano and Fontenot to the Reds for Dunn, Freel, and Homer Bailey, I would have to really consider that deal. Just simply Zambrano for Dunn, no. On the other hand, I would be willing to send a package of four or five prospects to get him. Step away from the Rocket Sauce.
  4. Quick! Honey mustard!
  5. Overall: 6 BBs, 45Ks in 128 Abs. Both: terrible. He clearly needs to make some mental adjustments in his approach. He can do that on the bench. He's still got and will get a fair share of starts.
  6. He's gotten 12 at bats in the last 9 games. Even a veteran would lose his stroke playing that infrequently. That is not a fair platoon. He's only had 128 AB's on the season and he really only got regular starts over a 3 week stretch, and now he's on the brink of being dumped from the team. If every rookie on every team was discarded this quickly MLB would be overrun with 50 year old players. 4/21 in his last 6 starts - that's not very good no matter how you slice it. He's geting his share of starts and he's not performing, end of story. He's on the brink of being dumped from the team like I'm on the brink of being added to the team.
  7. Can't yopu make it so that only members can vote? That horrible southsiders.net has it that way? I should be able to make it that way, but sadly I don't have the power: Tim rules absolutely in an internetyranny.
  8. Not really. It's pretty logical that the best announcers in the business are probably going to work for the largest markets. That is likely a partial answer, as is the big city bias. Thanks, it's not easy to be a fan and have your broadcast team downgraded, but I appreciate your sympathy. Whatreyagonnado? Upwards and onwards eh?
  9. A clear case of big city bias can be made here. Stone was the man, Len isn't an improvement over Chip IMO. The only good thing about Chip leaving was that the Chip Complainers finally shut up.
  10. Very diva-ish: I am physically suffering, so you must suffer too. People like that suck. FYI - a scum bag is slang for a used condom, a lot of people don't know that. Surprised this poll is nearly even - I bet the out of towners are skewing the results. I voted yes, I hate the White Sox.
  11. 4/21 in his last 6 starts. He's getting his share of starts since Holla stopped being so ice cold - it's a fair platoon and he's not doing much with the opportunity. Overall: 6 BBs, 45Ks in 128 Abs. Both: terrible. SLG is down to .469.
  12. WS teams win games like today. A big loss.... Still, .500 for June, all things considered, is just good enough to keep us afloat. This is the hardest part of our schedule and we have a ton of games with the Cards, so we really control our own destiny.
  13. Both these guys blow Dawson away, come on. They should both get in easily. If they don't the Hall will of screwed up again, but who really cares at this point? They blow Dawson away in stats, but not as impact players. But the reason they 'blow' Dawson away in stats is cuz, as I said, they played in a time in offensive inflation. If Dawson played in the '90s like Bagwell did he'd have 500 homers easy. There's no way Biggio or Bagwell "blow" Dawson away - that's ludicrous, and can only be said by someone who never saw Dawson play for an extended period of time. I think a person who would say that truly shows their age. But so many writers who vote just look at the stats unfortunately - they clearly do not excel at critical thinking. You'd think considering that Dawson was the first guy in decades to hit 49 home runs in the NL, and then there's, what, 15+ instances of players topping 50 home runs in the last 10+ years would make people scratch their heads about the possibility that hitting is easier today than it was 20 years ago. Tony got in?! Players Assoc. huh? Good for Tony! Tony=baller.
  14. I say no - both played in an era with hyperproduction offensively. I don't think either are quite good enough, but they probably will, cuz the voters are dumbasses. If they get in Tony Perez, Andre Dawson and host of others should get in.
  15. He got his usual 1 hit - a double. WHERE IS THE HOT STREAK DOOBS?!
  16. And he got pulled after 2 at bats. Sheesh..... He got pulled thanks to Glendon Rusch not being able to get the third out in the inning. Thanks to Glendon, he was pulled with his spot in the order up first. Or maybe you wanted to bring in Borowski for just one hitter? Thanks, dalgreen. Did you watch the game tonight, frostwyrm? If you did, then you should understand why Dubois was pulled when he was. If you did watch the game and you still made this post, then you are being needlessly argumentative. Dubois started tonight and against a right-hander at that. He is basically starting every other game now. He has not been benched. If the facts don't match your argument, then maybe it time to reevaluate the point you were trying to make. Not everyone can alter the intelligence to support their argument and get away with it. What I think you guys fail to realize is that it's those last 3 half innings Jason is regularly missing that is preventing him from overtaking Lee in the triple crown race. Yeah, that's the ticket.
  17. Another day, another hit for Doobs. In his last 14 starts he has got at least 1 hit - he has not had an 0 fer in all that time! The guy is consistent. Keep waiting for a few good games in a row from Jason, but I love this consistency.
  18. What is it about his .950 OPS with runners on last year that makes you think he doesn't come through with runners on? I figured stats wouldn't back me up. I didn't check. I just wanted to get in a "Dunn dig!"
  19. If that's really the case, wouldn't Jason Bay theoretically have a freakish OBP too? Or, say, Aubrey Huff? The #1 slugger on crappy teams aren't putting up the OBP numbers and showing the patience Dunn is. I think you're slighting him. I'd expect Dunn's OBP to remain consistently high as a Cub. And if Dunn hits a bunch of solo shots, well, that's the Cubs' fault for not getting on base ahead of him. Or him not coming thru with runners on. Yes! Dunn dig!
