  1. What does going to USC have to do with it? todd marinovich. over-involved parents (see marinovich). no control of athletes (see the football team). i don't like usc. :D
  2. I think you're overpaying in both cases. I wouldn't have done either trade, but that's what it would have cost considering Marte was trade for Crisp and Ethier was dealt for Bradley. Ehtier already has more homers than Murton, 3, in 50 or so AB's. As for Wilkerson, who do the Cubs have that Bowden would value as highly as Soriano?? Ramirez?
  3. Having an owner who really wants to win, noticing Hendry, MacPhail (F A I L), and Dusty are dumb. Would fire them all and get people who knew what they are doing (along with wanting to win). MacPhail doesn't want to win. To sum up. If EVERYBODY in the "higher-ups" wanted to win. Things would change, RIGHT NOW. apparently, all steinbrenner has ever done is provide money.
  4. didn't prior flip out when someone said he used roids?? i suspect he used. i mean he went to usc.
  5. you've given up already? I've watched nearly every game...I see little in this team that looks like a contender. Craig Wilson won't change that fact. You may be right. I'd like to see what they can do w/ Lee & Wilson added to the lineup. ARam & Pierre can't continue to be this bad either.
  6. Yep. Should have done Pie for Bradley or Pie & Hill for Crisp. Sarge Jr. already failed as a Cub once TT.
  7. Looks like Sean Casey will be back soon, so Wilson should be more available. Wilson could start in LF versus righties and in RF versus lefties. Move Murton and his 2 homers & .622 ops vs. righties to the bench & play him versus lefties. Hill for Wilson may work. Hill might turn out to be a decent starter for a small market team.
  8. I think it's all across the board on the blame for this mess of a team. Lots of people to blame, but the buck stops w/ the trib. they make the big decisions. No they don't. That's the whole point. They don't want to be making the baseball decisions because they're not baseball people. As has been previously stated, this really isn't anything new. I'd imagine Hendry has been waiting a while to re-sign Baker. They hired the architect of this all, MacPhail. I don't see why this is so difficult to grasp... They hired MacPhail because he is good with the books. As long as their profit margin is right, the Trib isn't going to meddle. exactly, which is why i've said get an owner in here who gives a crap.
  9. who do you want to see pitch on sunday?
  10. a couple of good things from tonight... aram with another homer and pierre w/ 2 hits. would be really nice to see the biggest slumpers finally get going. both have killed this team. good to see wood's scheduled for tomorrow. still a shot @ 2 out of 3.
  11. gotta keep that drive for the playoffs going strong. so pitch rusch on saturday instead of wood? ...Wood wouldn't be pitching Saturday regardless, see the discussion above. oops, i meant sunday.

  13. BBB, you mention Loretta, Bradley and Crisp. Cmon now. The Cubs kept Walker @ 2b, so no need for Loretta. Oakland gave up Ethier, who is tearing it up in LA, for Bradley. Boston had to give up Marte, a top 5 prospect, for Crisp. You really wanted to give up Pie for Bradley or Pie & another prospect for Crisp? Some of the other options bounced around here were Huff and Floyd who have really sucked. Altogether, we should be happy w/ Jones. Walks aren't nearly as important as batting average and power anyway.

  15. the only way this all changes is if the trib sells the team and someone who gives a crap blows it all up. I'm amazed the trib is this bad.
  16. perfect summary. the trib sucks. :x
  17. gotta keep that drive for the playoffs going strong. so pitch rusch on saturday instead of wood?
  18. Cubs take 2 out of 3 and lose the game Wood was supposed to pitch. Just when things get a rollin there's more bad news. Never ends.
  19. Those of you defending Hill for his comments can give it a rest now. He knows he screwed up, and that only hastened his departure to AAA. Please...all that tells me is that Hendry/Baker got to Rich Hill, and coached him into making those statements. I know, I know...Baker and "coached" in the same sentence? :? i know this might be a novel concept, but some people are man enough to own up to being wrong.
  20. miss the part where hill criticized himself? reach and your point is....? take that into consideration & your rant's full of holes. please point those holes out to me. hill had every right to say what he did, regardless of what he says now (after a public reprimand by two of his bosses and a day to calm down). talk about a nonsensical conclusion. at least rich hill can own up to being wrong. kid might be alright afterall. it says a lot about his character.
  21. That makes two of us. The only thing is, we can just sign Lee and not even have to trade pie. Or trade Pie and Marshall for Cabrera and still sign Lee. I think Lee will be too expensive for the Trib's blood and they'll turn to a toolsy player like Soriano, who's attitude may drop his price some. I think Wood and Maddux coming off the books will make us the favorites to get Lee. Would you offer 4/40 for him? sure, but if lee keeps tearing it up this year, he'll get more than 4/40, which pushes him off the trib's short list. with maddux and wood possibly gone, some of that money will need to go to another starter. the rotation's pretty thin now. it's z and marshall and ????????????????? w/out maddux. i think guzman can fill in next year, but after that who knows. i'm not counting on prior any longer.

  23. kerry doesn't come across as the sharpest knife, but he's a heckuva competitor. hopefully, he can bounce back, but i really doubt he'll ever be close to the dominant kerry wood from a few years ago.
