i'd never full on hate the cubs, but i could definitely see a scenario where i barely follow them for a few years, then pop back right in (in 2019) when they start to be good again oh wait that's happening now You barely follow them yet you post on a Cubs message board? Got it. that, and there's a good core group of posters to discuss movies, tv, etc. with in this community already that i've spent/wasted 10 years with.

This isn't about the W/L, it has to be about the lack of development from Castro/Rizzo. Or simply that they see a better long term option that won't be available next year. Or both. exactly. i don't know if a manager can do a better job in developing castro and rizzo, but it's worth a shot

agreed. yankees did the send-off perfectly (well, besides having him close out a world series game). i always admired the way he went about things - seemed like nobody ever had a bad word to say about him. even red sox fans, who hate everyone associated with the yankees, seemed to have a lot of respect for him. leaving out his rookie year, when he was mostly a starter, he had 11 seasons with an ERA under 2.00 and only 7 over 2.00. as a reliever, batters hit .207/.257/.284/.541 against him. pretty damn good. He should be a unanimous first-ballot HoFer, but some dick writer will keep him off just to be "that guy" I'M NOT PUTTING IN ANY STEROID ERA PLAYER

he shouldn't start or anything. but i couldn't think of a more useful 25th man to have on a playoff roster with his ridiculous speed. This. I'd rather have someone like Hamilton as the backup OF'er on the roster than Chris Heisey, who probably has no business being on a major league roster to begin with at this point, what with his 9 walks in 240 plate appearances... then again this is Dusty we're talking about. Hell, they're playing a platoon of Heisey and Ludwick in LF it would seem. They have a combined OPS+ of 83. i hope cesar izturis is on the playoff roster and hamilton is left off
