agreed. yankees did the send-off perfectly (well, besides having him close out a world series game). i always admired the way he went about things - seemed like nobody ever had a bad word to say about him. even red sox fans, who hate everyone associated with the yankees, seemed to have a lot of respect for him. leaving out his rookie year, when he was mostly a starter, he had 11 seasons with an ERA under 2.00 and only 7 over 2.00. as a reliever, batters hit .207/.257/.284/.541 against him. pretty damn good. He should be a unanimous first-ballot HoFer, but some dick writer will keep him off just to be "that guy" I'M NOT PUTTING IN ANY STEROID ERA PLAYER
