    not that this really fits in the current topic, but i always felt the kinks were never given enough due for their influence. i wouldn't rate them above led zeppelin, beatles, or rolling stones in terms of their influence on music, but i think they're in the same ballpark.

    If the Cubs were to trade Mark Prior for Kevin Mench I would be done with this team for a long time. Mark Prior is under our control for a few more years. It's not too late to change his perception about the Cubs, if it's even tainted at all. Plus, could we get a good enough return for Prior, considering other GMs probably see him as a soft pitcher who has had injury issues every year of his major league career? (I understand most are fluke accidents, but I don't think some GMs distinguish between those).

    Remlinger and Hawkins were arguably the best bullpen arms when we signed them. Bullpen arms are very unpredictable, and thus very risky signings. Brian giles is very predictable, and not much of a risky signing. Jacque Jones is also predictable, and the difference in Giles' production and Jones' is easier to predict, and also more important to the success of this team.

    Isn't that what the "Rivalries" section is all about? NO. Rivalries is a place intended for Cubs fans to talk about the Cardinals/White Sox/Astros etc. Fans of those teams are certainly welcome to join in, but they shouldn't complain if their team or favorite player is being made fun of.

    No, not fair enough. The rules of the board are pretty clear that you don't take shots at other posters. We're making fun of Edmonds, not you. I haven't take shots at any other posters, have I? I'm simply giving an opposing view to the Edmonds opinions. No, you're complaning that the orignal Edmonds opinion was made in the first place...ON A CUBS BOARD.

    Maybe I'm misunderstanding the intent of the "Rivalries" forum. If I am, then please feel free to re-explain the rules and format to me. It's not a place for Cardinals fans to hang out on NSBB and not expect their favorite players to be made fun of. I have no desire to go to Cardstalk and find threads about Zambrano/Wood/Prior and constantly defend them. I think I would understand that those threads come with the territory, as it is a Cardinals forum.

    You are right Rocket. Allen has only been convicted (felony wise) for the racial fight that almost got him kicked out of school after he took a chair to a girls head. He was also charged with trying to kill his cousin and his roomate with a gun during a domestic arguement. I am sorry, he really isnt violent. *rolls eyes* Hahaha, sorry for asking a legit question. Jesus Christ, are you this much of a jerk in real life too?

    Or Alan Iverson/Ron Artest. I say ban him for life. (and ban AI and Artest for life too). When did Allen Iverson attack a fan/ref? I honestly don't remember.

    Yeah, the video pretty much flushes my "accident" theory down the toilet. Suspend him for a long time.

    I can't envision at all in my head what this looks like. An underhand flip doesn't sound as bad. I was imagining him rearing back and throwing his bat at the ump with all his might. That's what I was thinking. I have no idea if this is the case, but I've seen a few times where a player would flip his bat, with the intention of catching it, after being rung up. I wonder if that's what Delmon tried to do, but it slipped or whatever. I have no idea though, to be honest.
