  1. Im going to give some respect to the ball coach for another solid recruiting class. USC has been outperforming the expectations of their recruiting and is now an elite level program that could have beaten anybody in the country last year even after losing the top back in the nation. Scouting/Coaching/Developing or whatever, the old ball coach has the gamecocks primed for a BCS run this year. Easy schedule for us, a win @ Georgia or home vs Florida will likely ensure an SEC east win and hopefully a chance to win the conference and play for the BCS title.
  2. Then dont say say it. Bama doesnt dominate its own conference (which you dont consider a dominant conference). They have 5 conference loses in the last 3 years. What USC used to do to the pac ten in the mid 00s was dominating a conference. Bama is in the middle of a great run but it's getting overblown. I like how you left off 2008 and 2009. Yes, they have five conference losses in the last three years. They also have only five conference losses in the last five years, three of which came in one season (by 14, 3 and 1 points). USC's best stretch was four losses in five years (02-06). Bama has won the sec twice under Saban in six years. They have obviously been the best team in that stretch but they haven't dominated their conference. Read dews post and assess what he said. If you think the sec is bama and then everybody else you haven't been paying attention. Don't overrate bcs championships. If Georgia completes a 10 yard pass in the sec title game they'd be reigning bcs champion right now.

  4. Not to mention the costs of travel/accomodations on a trip to wales.
  5. Tiger's ace on 16 was one of the best golf moments ever. I played TPC Scottsdale about 5 years ago and it was $250. Id say maybe worth it only because they play a semi-high profile tour event there, but other courses in that area cheaper and better. Nice to see Tiger and Phil winning back to back with other good names on the top of the leaderboards.
  6. George Clooney directed a screenplay he wrote. He must charm these people somehow. Hes probably the Van Gundy brothers of sportwriting and wont do this or that as to not impede the sovereignty of the beat writers. There must be some unwritten sportswriting code that reilly sticks by or something because he is not a talented writer, he doesnt even attempt to investigate anything, hes been duped by wikipedia and fake twitters a number of times. You would think hes be Jay Leno:Comedians / Rick Reilly:Sportswriters where everybody he thought he sucked or was jealous of him, or both. Instead they vote him that award every year,. Its odd.
  7. You cannot expect rick reilly to not insert himself into a story if he has any opportunity to do so. Sort of like when tiger woods cheated on his wife on rick reilly or when lance armstrong took steriods to impress rick reilly or when sammy sosa did not submit to the testing requirements of rick reilly or that barry bonds was a jerk off the field to rick reilly. The fact that rick reilly inserted himself into the very personal decision of an adult not seeking out biological parents should not surprise anybody.
  8. I wouldnt be cool with this if I was a Michigan athlete.
  9. Hopefully the meeting with zach line was for an internship.
  10. Wow teo is a chump.
  11. We should point out we hired the offensive coordinator of the saboteur oakland raiders.
  12. I really respect that we went out and got a defensive coordinator who values turnovers.
  13. Me too. I cant believe they cancelled that show and why hasnt peter gallagher gotten work since?
  14. I just read the below. I wonder if he is watering down the hardcore/unmitigated defense of Teo from the other night. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/college-football/news/20130118/jack-swarbrick-wants-manti-teo-to-speak.ap/index.html
  15. How has he managed to keep an NFL job the last 4 years? Actually I think hes a good coach who has had horrendous talent as an OC here and in baltimore. Those Pitt teams had solid offenses with Palko and then Mccoy/Stephens-Howling/Graham. I dont think Matt Cavanaugh is gonna hurt us.
  16. Trestman getting the '96 Niners band back together.
  17. I dont know why that eye-roll worthy. Emery is the boss of the team and should be able to assuage Trestman's fears of instability with a combo of assurances and years on his deal as OC. I dont think Trestman was a serious contender for any other HC jobs this year and likely would have become a serious candidate next year if his bear offense performed. I cant find the exact years, but Im almost sure that Angelo completely overhauled the offensive staff before 2010 in Lovie's final contract year. Correct? If it wasnt Lovie's final year, it was definately a "last chance" year.
  18. I dont understand why you cant overhaul the offensive staff while leaving Lovie, Taub, and D coaches (likely retaining Hoke as the DB coach). Its almost impossible for me to believe that Trestman wouldnt accept the OC ("HC of the Offense") job here in chicago. We have a mature team, so an overhaul with all new coaches (whom are all recieving huge promotions from all their prior jobs) is incredibly stupid. We are paying Lovie $5mln. Why not let him coach out the contract with trestman as OC and reevaluate after the season. We won 10 games last year and likely could have won 11-12 had Cutler stayed healthy or Hester not dropping that one pass. A few upgrades offensively and this was a contending team with the current staff in place.
  19. And its Emery's job to know the expected turnover when Lovie was fired, and his job to retain guys of value to the team. Im not sure we have the offensive personnel to have a good offense. Trestman could be set up to fail with this offense.
  20. I have to wonder why anybody is satisfied that we blew up our coaching staff and replaced it with a staff of Trestman, Hoke, and Kromer. I understand Emery is going to win championships, but I dont understand how this is a step in that direction.
  21. I like robert garrigus to break through this year. It would be great if tiger could win a major.
  22. Maybe captain janks will get in on this.
  23. I am inclined to believe that its possible a 20 year old could lie about meeting with his girlfriend a number of times because he was embarrassed about the fact he’d never actually met his girlfriend. That lie makes sense to me and seems consistent with what I think a dweeb 20 year old would do. It honestly seems like these massive god people are particularly susceptible to establishing deep emotional connections, and seem to lack a certain critical eye. That said, in the Woj interview he seems to be basking in talking about it. Its a bit suspicious, but I agree that ND having a few weeks to get as much info as they could, probably has enough info to fully corroborate Manti’s current version of the story. I will also say, Swarbrick going up there and doubling down with so much gravitas makes him and ND look like a dumbass. Him recalling dates and times and facts like he was detailing the d day operation was pathetic. He should have just been like “Well it appears we have all been duped. The good news is nobody died. Manti is a bit shaken up but hes about to become a millionaire” and then just walked out of the room.
  24. You can argue the merits of a hire when its made, you dont need to wait until it fails. I feel like the Bears job is a notably good job by NFL standards, and Bears HC is one of the best jobs in football. I would have retained Lovie until an NFL head coach with an indisputable record of success in the NFL became available and Emery had a reasonable take that he'd be interested in the job. Lovie has another year left on his deal. Why not retain Lovie and hire Trestman as OC?
  25. Stop giving this guy credit for Steve Young's success and stop giving him credit for success with a CFL QB who had enjoyed a 15 year celebrated career prior to trestman heading to canada. If Trestman had such a proud track record of success than why, in his entire american football career (cant believe i have to make this distinction), has he never held a job more than 2 years, and why has every single career move he has made (up until Emery hiring him as HC of the Bears) been either lateral or downward?
