  1. I can see both sides on Strong (assuming the one side isnt purely hate). Though Red Mccomb owned the Vikings and they had a really quick trigger on Denny Green but who knows. Strong did a good job restoring Louisville's program and deserves creedit for bringing in and coaching a future #1 choice. But I can see being unsatisfied with the hire iff you are texas and you expected Jim Harbaugh or Saban to take the job. As unrealistic as that was, you'd consider Strong a huge dissapointment in that company.
  2. This playoff thing has me thinking they need to immediately force the Big 12 to play a championship game (eliminating the 12 team rule). Its not really fair that those teams wont have to play an extra tough game. Also, I love Wisconsin to make the playoff. They need to beat LSU (with all new players) at a neutral field and then potentially miss MSU in the big 10 championship game. Winsconsin has an incredibly easy road to this playoff. They play Neb at home and @ Iowa. Both winnable.
  3. Auburn vs USC in late Oct will be great. Both teams have manageable schedules to that point. It couldn be two top #3-#4 teams. For the SEC here are each teams tough OOC games. Bama - WVU Ark - @ TTU, NIU Auburn - @ KSU UF - @ FSU UGA - Clemson, GT Kentucky - @ Louisville LSU - Wisc Miss St - nobody Mizzou - UCF Ole Miss - Boise USC - @ Clemson UTENN - Utah State, @ OK A&M - Nobody Vandy - Nobody Based on this, I would guess between the top teams in the SEC, down year or no down year, they will still send 2 teams to the playoff. FYI A&M has the most punishing conference schedule imaginable and im sure JM sees that and knows he cant do anythign with it.
  4. I dont know about oregon. They lost to stanford, got blown out by Arizona, and then won a miracle in the civil war. They kinda limped in. Now they will be two years removed from Chip Kelly. The PAC is more balanced now, with 6 maybe 7 good teams. Granted Oregon will probably torch MSU at home early in the year and be #1 before conference play starts.
  5. Stanford and Oregon at 3/4 is a joke. They love keeping the west coast interested i guess. South Carolina finishes at #4 and opens at #13? Injustice. Every good team loses great players every year. Losing two DL to the NFL is huge (esp with one being clowney) but Thompson won @ clemson and at one point played himself into a QB controvesy with shaw. Ellington leaving early doesnt really mean anything to me. Maybe Alshon's brother shows some family talent next year. The ball coach has turned in better team rankings than recruiting rankings every year and I feel like USC should be considered the favorite for the SEC East this year.
  6. If you are Nick Saban, and he doesnt look happy about it, why do you subject yourself to this.
  7. Wow. Al Golden? If that happens I would love to see Petrino go down to coral gables and dominate. Bring back everything great about the U.
  8. You can't give nick saban a month to prepare.
  9. That's the worst reason ever to hire him. If that's the criteria, go poach the Illinois coach, cuz heck, he'll never leave! This is not justification for hiring, but merely support for my thought that Schiano would be a long term head coach for PSU. I think people are underestimating how tough it is to make Rutgers a decent program from what it was prior to Schiano. I think hed be a great coach for PSU. Hes obviously not cut-out for couching professionals but hes proven he can get a lot out of college players and I think hed do great at PSU./
  10. As it stands now, we'll start next season with 9 guys with 10 full years on the job: Beamer, Blakeney(Troy), Stoops, Ferentz, Pinkel, Patterson, Richt, Riley, and O'Leary. If they make it to the end of next season, Spurrier, Whittingham(Utah), Mendenhall, and Solich(Ohio) will join them. First off Bill Synder needs to count. Then Fitzgerald, Gundy, and les miles have either done 10 years or imminently will. In Fitz case its a couple years off but the point is guys do have long runs still. My point was PSU is looking for a long term coach and Schiano wont leave for another job (cause je will never get a better one).
  11. there are probably 15-20 additional guys primed to hit that 10 year mark at least.
  12. Honest question. How many teams in college football this year do you think would have gone undefeated with FSU's schedule?
  13. They would give him lots of time. And 6 Big Ten coaches are better? I can see Meyer and Dantonio (only based on his recent season) but no way id put Kill Pelini Ferentz as definately better. The jury is out on the wisconsin guy and hes definately better than Fitz and hoke and the rest of the big ten coaches are pretty much garbage.
  14. Penn St is going to be in really good shape with schiano. Id way rather have schiano than obrien. Hes coming into a 2-year bowl ban and hes lost ten scholarships. Hes in better shape than Kiffen was when he took over SC. Schiano is gonna be there for 15 years and PSU will be a power again. I follow college football a long time and jerk-tyrants with a lot of rope do really well. Schiano was very good in a tough environment at rutgers as a historical also-ran and a program at the absolute depths on D-1 football (Terry Shea had control of that program for 5 years prior) and the big east was very strong back then. He took a team with no business being decent and made them good. Given some time at PSU he will have them contending.
  15. Russia just bought back Ukraine for $20bln and a deal on nat gas so im pretty sure they are feeling good about thwarting the the latest attempt by the EU to destroy the german economy once and for all.
  16. I dont think there is any reason to leave FSU or OSU for Texas. Leverage for a richer extension maybe, but actually leave? And what about Urban Meyer's contract to his daughter? Can he opt out of that. Obviously that list of names including Pete, Tomlin, Harbaugh etc is just somebody listing the top coaches. None of those guys will take the Texas job. They will get Patterson or maybe Briles or Mora Jr somebody like that.
  17. Little to no doubt that Jameis Winston is a better person that johnny manziel What's this based on? At the very least jameis boned a blacked out chick in a bathroom and then dropped her off on a random corner after. Other than sign autographs and potentially take some cash what did manziel do?
  18. WTF no But I want to. Would Carolina agree???
  19. Could we sign and trade cutler and Jeffries for cam newton?
  20. I thought DVOA said differently? Yeah. Cleveland's pass defense is 18th or something in DVOA. Still better than the empty jerseys McCown faced last week though. Yea Matt Flynn just threw a quick slant and it looked like there wasn't a defense.
  21. He's a second half QB. A guy who wins it in the 4th. I can't stress enough that this is the meatball angle we have to play up if we ever hope to make the meatballs of Chicago love him like we do. I googled 'Jay [expletive]' to see if there is anything out there and I don't think there is. Wow the bad word censor is really good.
  22. He's a second half QB. A guy who wins it in the 4th. I can't stress enough that this is the meatball angle we have to play up if we ever hope to make the meatballs of Chicago love him like we do. I googled 'Jay Cuntler' to see if there is anything out there and I don't think there is.
  23. You are looking at dumb defensive metrics if you think Cleveland has a top d.
  24. Gotta give jay credit for turning it around and having a good day. I figured he was gonna make a ricketts of it after the first half.
  25. Yea what's jays passer rating now AFTER that TD pass?
