  1. This. If this team somehow manages to stay in contention until August, at least there will be an obvious spot for them to improve. Am I the only one who doesn't find that completely awful? Especially when Lilly is back we'll just have to deal with one of them making the regular 5th start. CCPacer put it really well that all we will really need is a serviceable 5th guy and we can pick from a group of guys that have been successful in the past or have potential to be good (Shark). Assuming the rest of them are healthy and pitching well. Right, but that's the same about any team in MLB. On paper, our projected 5 for the year could be much worse imo.

  3. You laugh at this Cubbie Occurrence stuff at first, but wow it's uncanny some of the random injuries we've had
  4. If they are going to face them, I think I'd rather it be in the 1st round. If it's later, that could mean Detroit has really gained some momentum by beating some other top seed. Hopefully it'll be just like the Bulls in the 90's. Gotta go through Detroit to complete the changing of the guard etc. I want them first round.
  5. Agree with those who express sentiments that there really is no way Soriano could hope to put up the type of numbers that contract warrants. I'd be happy with: 140+games played .270avg .350obp 20-25 Home Runs 75+RBI
  6. I think the plan is to have him be the permanent batting for the pitcher spot and then subsequently be replaced on defense until like June.
  7. ARam DH'ing today which is good to see.
  8. What a terrible prediction !!! CUBS IP H R ER BB K HR Silva 4.0 2 0 0 0 3 0 Wow. Go me.
  9. Silva's line today: 4ip 3 hits 0 Runs 2k's Write that down.
  10. Burish back in the lineup tonight. Hide your women.
  11. It will be a glorious day when stories about Milton Bradley, the Cubs, racism and his time here go away forever.
  12. Anytime an 'all time' list is done it always sparks controversy and debate. Ultimately, it is fluff and an effort in futility by an struggling paper.
  13. So Barry Zito threw at Prince Fielder today apparently in a response to the Brewer's bowling pin home run celebration last year. I really hope the Giants plan to throw at the entire damn team then since they were all in on it. I feel bad for anyone involved in the Giants who was still upset about that.
  14. How many years until hes a starter in the Big Leagues? Anybody wanna guess? 1
  15. Welcome to Spring Training 2009. Okay, I'm done with my pessimism for the day
  16. Thanks for these updates! I'm reading these in a soft and smooth Pat Hughes voice
  17. Reminder that the draft is tonight everyone! 7pm.
  18. I woke up today and this was one of my first thoughts. Baseball is here tomorrow. :D)
  19. +1 I didn't like the whole magic ghost army dominating at the end of King. I'm assuming that's how it was written, just didn't translate to the big screen very well imo
  20. Piling on the Stevens love. Intrigued by him.
  21. Am I the only one who really disliked Slumdog Millionaire? Unbelievably overrated imo
  22. David Schuster of The Score said Lilly's MRI showed "normal wear and tear" So, potentially good news there.
