  1. The Flyers must be tired of being good at hockey
  2. PWSullivan Paul Sullivan Hendry meeting with scouts next week, like he does every July before trading deadline. Nothing new, just the business of baseball.
  3. /Cubs pessimism on I don't like Hendry being trusted to try moving assets. Why trust him to do this when he is hopefully going to be let go at the end of this year? In the words of Terry Boers, it makes my ass weary about the possibility of him being here next year /pessimism off
  4. I'm sure the recent Mauer and Posey injuries strengthened their commitment to him in the outfield.
  5. Yes, but the problem with the article and the meatball-thinking it's parroting is that firing the FO would have saved this season or might even turn it around. Firing Hendry and Co. IS the right thing to do...but no way in hell would it shut up the meatballs this year (NO, THIS ISN'T AN ARGUMENT TO KEEP HENDRY). I'm going to read it again, I didn't get the impression that Woj meant that firings would save or would have saved this season. Maybe he implied that it would have gotten Tom more good will and helped ticket sales early which, if so, I agree with him on Edit: The Cubs are such a unique situation. In one hand, it's perfectly reasonable for him to be taking this year to really assess the entire organization from the ground up. Multiple new owners across all sports have done the exact same thing. Unfortunately, there's are a lot of different factors with this team from the pesky century plus thing, Wrigley, bad contracts etc that make this year of toiling very frustrating
  6. This article really doesn't offend me at all. All of us are longing for some strong leadership from Tom. Hendry and Kenney need to go.
  7. Outfit for trollin' for ladies at Rockit Bar tonight I'm sure
  8. Cowley is a joke. I'm surprised he was able to move his lips from Ozzie's butt long enough to type an anti Cub article.
  9. I sincerely hope Pujols signs an 8 year 210+ million contract with the Cardinals :hides:
  10. It's entirely on him. If he gets more consistent, he'll stay at SS. If the error totals remain high he'll move. I still believe he'll work out the consistency at short.

  12. Yet more bad karma hopefully Buccigross John Buccigross After Vancouver won Game 5, the Canucks attempted to sell the broadcast rights to their Stanley Cup parade. NHL said no. Karma said careful. The list keeps on growing. The entire organization needs to have fire set to it
  13. Randy Wolf, LHP 4-4, 3.49 ER vs Ryan Dempster, RHP Stats 5-5, 5.96 ERA Strong road trip has our beloved nipping at the heels of the always formidable Astros for first place. We need to build on that momentum with this home stand.
  14. I like the Cell. :shrugs:
  15. http://www.fangraphs.com/not/index.php/hot-gif-ubaldo-jimenez-99-mph-splitter/f Dude threw a 99mph splitter last night...

  17. Almost looks like he called the pitcher a slang term for cats
  18. Right, but it's not news to anyone in that clubhouse. Aramis Ramirez isn't going to react to Z calling them a AAA team in the media and start hittting home runs. It does no good and only possible tension and harm can come from the comments. These guys are professionals and are well aware of how bad they've been playing.
  19. Why? Does the team really need to have one of its own venting to the media? Do they not realize they just got swept by the Astros and Cardinals? How is Z referring to Marmol as a AAA pitcher going to make them any better at baseball? It's not. It's more noise and more distractions for a team spiraling out of control. I'm sure a lot of guys are upset with the season, but they somehow muster the strength not to be fools in the media. If we can get good prospects back for Z, I'd move him without a second thought.
  20. I always thoguht Haugh was pretty decent before he took over "In The Wake of the News". But he's been terrible since then, no doubt. His NFL Concussion/Robot Apocalypse column was quite a thing
  21. Haugh is the worst writer in town. Unless you want to count Dan McNeil's once a week whatever it is that he does. Although this column isn't too bad from haugh You can't do what Z did. You just can't. I for one and hoping this is the public waving of his no trade clause and we got some cap relief and prospects. Maybe I'm pessimistic, but he won't be on this team when we are good again.
  22. Oxford, OH? Go to Miami? Alumni? I graduated in 2006 His slider clearly wasn't doing anything last night. I think it's possible he's trying to focus on his control a bit more so purposely taking something off his pitches. His BB/9 rate is down 1 from last year and almost 2 from two years ago. Or maybe he's elbow/shoulder is boned and he needs surgery.
  23. I feel like that's something every team says. I wish there was a way to track team stats against a pitcher making his first MLB start.
