  1. Well that wasn't how the inning was supposed to go. Bowen can hopefully put out this small fire.
  2. I'm guessing he closer to 40 than 36. His power and speed reduction coupled with the injuries pretty much tell it all. It wasn't until recently where Latin players had to actually prove their birthdate before being drafted. Long form I'm sure is what is expected. :? In all seriousness, this guy has been a disaster as a Cub when you look at his contract. I can't take much more of him starting anymore. Just call up Rizzo and let LaHair play some in left. Soriano is a liability.
  3. I was at the Chiefs game last night. Concepcion certainly didn't get much help from the defense, but only his fastball was finding the strike zone and it was hit about every time. He his stuff was not good at all last night. Hopefully he turns it around but he is off to a very rough start. That contact makes the pressure on even more. The River Bandits were very hot at the plate last night.
  4. Really like Dolis in this role. Hopefully he can nail it down. I think he's better closer material than Russell.
  5. Curious, what would qualify as a doom and gloom person right now? Watching wood walk the leadoff hitter and give up 2 runs in the 8th is going to bring out a few negative thoughts in anybody. calling wood "done" after 3 innings is a little much for me. maybe "doom and gloom" is the wrong phrase, but whatever. His career has been in decline for at least a year now.
  6. Hate to say it. But Woody might just be done. He doesn't have it anymore.
  7. Volstad and DeWitt can take a hike.
  8. ... When has a team ever NOT celebrated a walk-off win? I meant that the whole team still looks positive. The last thing you want is the manager losing the clubhouse. Matt Garza is still having fun and he's a guy who could get ticked off and ask for a trade to a contender.
  9. That celebration at least shows that despite the slow/bad start, the team still cares.
  10. It's the only time feels like he earned a personal win.
  11. And a capacity crowd of 300 join in singing Go Cubs Go.
  12. Joe Mather with the chance to be the hero.
  13. Soriano, Soto, and DeWitt. All just terrible. I know this isn't in the plan but just bring up guys from AAA and sit Soto and Sorianio, and DFA DeWitt. They are bringing nothing to the table.
