Call up either Parker or Rosscup. Or both for all I care. Russell hasn't been good for 2 years now and Schlitter is a career minors guy IMO. Parker or Rosscup could be career minors guys as well but might as well find out.
According to the Iowa Cubs Twitter account last night they are going to release their 2014 roster as soon as the Chicago Cubs give them permission. Odd that Chicago Cubs haven't done that yet. They must be hoping some late additions can be made to the squad or something.
Remember when this card was worth $2.00? http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_5NufyMo4N2I/SVMFpkOo82I/AAAAAAAAADs/cJw8vJY-nXY/s320/ben%2Bmcdonald%2Brookie%2Bcard.JPG
Why is Acta going to be better than Sveum? I assume the Cubs fired Sveum for something better and I don't see where he's going to be an upgrade. The team is at least another year away from contending within the division, and outside Acta's love for Sabermetrics why is he the guy? Like I said, he's never won before and the roster this season isn't going to be much better than last year.
And why would he be a horrible choice for manager? Keep in mind, this is the guy who started this thread. I'm not really sure why you are even commenting here. You didn't want Sveum fired and weren't big on Girardi. Do you want Acta or are you just going to make more smartass comments?
And why would he be a horrible choice for manager? Although he's never had much to work with, he's never won either. Look at his overall record as manager. The Cubs roster isn't going to be great next year either so they might as well have hung onto Sveum if they wanted the same results. I don't think Acta is much of a change from Dale. Outside of Acta being a sabermetrics guy what makes him worth managing the Cubs?
If the Cubs are serious about Acta as manager, I would have rather kept Sveum. Acta was never impressive as a manager and it's not like he's going to have a stellar roster to work with. Acta as a bench coach is fine, but he'd be a horrible choice for manager.
What changed with Mike Maddux this time around? Last year it seemed the Cubs wanted him and he turned down the job because he didn't want to leave or move his family.
