  1. I am absolutely devastated by the fact that the Eugene Emeralds are now a Cubs affiliate. I used to live in Eugene, which would have made me the perfect (and likely only) candidate to do some basic stuff like game recaps, etc.
  2. I might be old now (horsefeathers) but I guess I didn't realize that classic South Park references were outdated. Gosh, now I have to sit here and think about the fact that that quote is probably 20 years old.
  3. Oh, for crying out loud. I'm sure you're sitting there in absolute bewilderment. You just can't understand how that meme applies to Dwyane Wade.
  4. Also, I am extremely disappointed in all of you for failing to make this reference: http://orig10.deviantart.net/c6b8/f/2014/365/6/8/screw_you_guys__i_m_going_home__by_drizz67-d8c2ycc.jpg
  5. Haha, right? I know this thread is from January, but I had a good chuckle when I read the OP. I have both Altuve and Shields on my team, and at this point, we are talking about, like, the most severe contrast possible. Errrr I recently dropped Shields, but still.
  6. Yeah, IIRC, when Niko came back, he seemed to have lost his ability to do anything beside shoot 3's. He was so skinny and out of shape.
  7. What happens when Bobby Portis becomes a max player in the next 2 years or so? What happens if Valentine becomes a star? So much upside is being overlooked.
  8. Holy crap, dude. We agree on so much stuff. Somebody hacked your account, didn't they?
  9. You know what, you may be on to something. I almost brought this up earlier. Isn't it possible that Wade takes on a bit of that Lebron-ish role and sort of becomes Hoiberg's right hand man? I can't imagine that a guy like Hoiberg is going to aggressively push his unproven system on a guy like Wade who has won rings. I could see Hoiberg making some adjustments to his system to cater to his roster. I mean, doesn't he have to?
  10. I like how after all these years, there are still people holding out for GarPax and Reinsdorf to have "a plan". I would literally rather roll a pair of dice. It would be more successful. And, again, Wade does literally nothing to derail any sort of "plan" we might have had before. Signing Wade and Rondo for only 1 guaranteed year isn't going to do any harm. All it does is buy us some time. If this year goes well, maybe we keep rolling with it and try to add another piece. If it's a disaster, we can continue with our rebuild.
  11. we actually did get younger and more athletic too though Haha. Thats actually a really funny point. Yes, we did get younger and more athletic compared to last year's team. Gasol, Noah, and Rose were old and/or broken. Obviously, though, we didnt get as young and as "athletic" as we originally planned.
  12. Okay, but: Like I said before, we haven't even derailed our retooling. If we all agree that an extreme model where you run out a d-league team for a few years is not the best idea, then what is the problem? I know the pieces dont fit, but Rondo could be gone after one year if he doesnt work out, and then we use the combo of Butler and Wade to try to lure other players. Yes, we have directly contradicted the whole, "younger and more athletic" thing, but acquiring Wade does NOT make your team worse, and we haven't made any sort of long term commitment to anyone.
  13. My evidence is this: name some championship teams that were built by completely tanking and loading up on picks intentionally. A team is lucky to be able to draft one star and then acquire some others to put around them. Situations like Curry/Thompson and Durant/Westbrook are extremely rare, and neither of those had anything to do with intentional tanking. Since we already have more than one star to attract other stars, it would be silly to try to suck and get draft picks.
  14. Tanking does not work nearly as well in basketball as it does in baseball. How long will it be until Philly wins a ring?
  15. I've been really concerned about Rondo's ability to play for Hoiberg, but Rondo tends to be the type of guy that does well when he is in a good situation and things are going his way. He just doesn't respond to adversity very well. Hoiberg will definitely have his hands full, though. Not only does he have to deal with Rondo, but also Butler's emergence as a leader, Wade's living legend status, and the development of the young guys. And finding a way for such an odd assortment of players to play together.
  16. The Bulls are far more interesting to me now than they ever were last year and arguably more than at any time since Rose's knee exploded. This.
  17. KCJ makes a good point that the Bulls will probably go with Mirotic as the starting 4, due to the desperate need for a perimeter shooter in that group.
  18. How do we go into next year without Wade? I didn't here anything about an opt-out. I heard 2 for 47. 2nd year is a player option. Well, in that case... even better. There's like no risk here. Would you guys really have rather used the cap space on Calderon and Dunleavy? Let's roll the dice for a year and see what happens.
  19. How do we go into next year without Wade? I didn't here anything about an opt-out. I heard 2 for 47.
  20. Something I haven't seen anybody mention: the prospect of Lebron and Wade going head to head in the playoffs, both playing for their home teams. See, GarPax did have the right idea here in a certain sense. A series like that is going to sell tickets and get ratings.
  21. See, that's another thing. This is only a two year deal, so we aren't even really disrupting our little "retool". The only downside is our draft picks won't be quite as high. Rondo's deal is only guaranteed for one year, so we have flexibility there. I really do think Wade will be able to help attract another max player in 2017 if the Bulls don't suck this year.
  22. Yeah... what's weird is that for the past few years, the Bulls have been this team of misfits that were good individually, but didn't fit together. We rid ourselves of Rose, Noah, and Gasol... and then go right back to making the team awkward again. I guess it should be no surprise. I'm honestly super excited about the move. Like I said before, I just really didn't want to watch the Bulls tank. This might be a total disaster, but I am anxious to watch and find out. If we can be at least kinda good, I'll be happy.
  23. I know this roster is a really awkward fit, but Dwyane Wade can still play. Don't forget that. He was nuts in the playoffs this year. It's not like we signed Kobe.
  24. So, the best news is that we apparently get to keep Taj Gibson. At least, salary-wise. Who knows if we end up moving him in another deal. I'm not sure if we're rebuilding or not.
  25. Which Bull had a better Bulls career between Andrew Bynum and Jose Calderon? I'm gonna go with Calderon, because it's so rare for an NBA player to be named Jose.
