  1. BTW, if the forum hadn't crashed, I could pull up my post from the off-season (before the domestic violence thing) where I said the Cubs needed a proven dominant closer like Aroldis Chapman to shut folks down in the playoffs. I said that I didn't feel confident in our bullpen. The general consensus seemed to be that our bullpen was very good and that it didn't make sense to spend big money on a closer when we already have Rondon.
  2. The playoffs might be a crapshoot, but I have a hard time believing that having a guy like Aroldis Chapman in your bullpen doesn't move the needle. Just one inning, or even one batter, could make all the difference in a playoff series.
  3. I can't tell if you guys thought I was being serious, or if you knew I was kidding and still thought it was crazy and weird. Maybe a little of both?
  4. One thing that is being overlooked here is Chapman's ability to defuse a domestic dispute without hitting his girl. If you just shoot your gun off a bunch of times and scare the horsefeathers out of her, there will be no need for violence.
  5. RIP Dexter Fowler (1986-2016) Good night sweet prince. ?!?
  6. Is there a place where we are talking about Fowler returning tonight?
  7. His point was that you seemed extremely excited about finding out she was Wade's wife, as if you were very familiar with her. So, if you are very familiar with Gabrielle Union, and you are also a huge sports fan, it would seem odd that you wouldn't know they were married. He wasn't implying that "people" should all know this. So what do think the next step should be here. I'm pretty sure there aren't any more steps. We just, kinda... move on.
  8. I'm not knocking people for knowing it; I just think it's odd to be all incredulous, like their marriage was some thing people must know about. I didn't give a [expletive] about Wade outside of him being someone the Bulls played a few times a year and Gabrielle Union was someone who gave me a boner when I last saw a movie of hers probably close to a decade ago. Somehow we all drifted apart after that. If not knowing they were married is some badge of shame of being out of touch, oh well. 9. You mean the thread where it was already being discussed?
  10. http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/17118662/mlb-commissioner-rob-manfred-says-looking-possible-limits-use-relief-pitchers-games Guys... they're gonna ruin the game. Idiocracy is coming true. Pretty soon baseball will just be a full season of home run derby.
  11. That's typical Rose. Always living in some sort of alternate reality that seems to conveniently benefit his ego. He's a great player!
  12. I honestly had no idea it was a derogatory term. I thought it was just short, like the way it is for "transmission". I know a guy who is dating a girl that has a penis, and he refers to her as a tranny. My bad. No you don't. Oh, horsefeathers off. Seriously?
  13. I literally almost said exactly that earlier today, but decided not to.
  14. I honestly had no idea it was a derogatory term. I thought it was just short, like the way it is for "transmission". I know a guy who is dating a girl that has a penis, and he refers to her as a tranny. My bad. You don't need to bother yourself with the intelligent conversation, though. I'll just google it.
  15. What? Is your point that there is more than one law in question? The North Caolina law doesn't allow you to do anything. It prohibits it. That's why I WS confused by your statement Well, my question would apply to other areas that don't have such a law. Like, if I go walk into a girls bathroom right now, that's gonna cause a whole scene. But, if I were a full-blown tranny that looked like a woman, I would be able to walk right in (what's been happening forever). So, I'm just wondering how the law is written. What defines a tranny?
  16. How could I be any more serious? I'm wondering how they could make a law when there is so much gray area involved. What law are you referring to? What? Is your point that there is more than one law in question?
  17. That's not a serious question How could I be any more serious? I'm wondering how they could make a law when there is so much gray area involved.
  18. Serious question: So, am I allowed to use whichever bathroom I want? Or do I have to dress up like a girl? I'm just curious if the law actually outlines that sort of thing.
  19. And now I get to laugh at myself for responding to your completely made up scenario.
  20. There's no way that a team with Elton Brand, Jason Richardson, Jamal Crawford, and Ron Artest doesn't make the playoffs. I get the lack of a true PG thing, but that doesn't look like a lottery team. At the very least, it would be a nice lineup for an elite veteran to add himself to.
  21. I just want to correct myself before someone else does: We didn't have the #1 pick that year, Curry was #4. For some reason, I was thinking we had the top 2 picks.
  22. Uh... wasn't Brand WAY more athletic than Curry? I remember Curry being chubby and slow-moving. Brand could actually create off the dribble.
  23. If I remember correctly (I was 11) we didn't pick up Brian Skinner. His Bulls career was the same as Andrew Bynum's, in that we had no intention of giving him a jersey. But, I guess this is just where you and I differ as NBA executives. I think it was a bad move. I would have kept Brand, hopefully drafted someone besides Eddy Curry with my #1 pick, and then tried to attract a free agent.
  24. 1) It looked to me like they WERE far off in value over that 6-8 year period according to the stats you mentioned. But, whatever. Agree to disagree. When in Rome. 2) You agree with the decision? Really? You draft a guy #1 overall in the draft. He puts up 20 and 10 in each of his first two seasons. You're like, "yay, he didn't flop". Then you trade him for the #2 pick in the draft. That makes sense to you? As a GM, if I had scored on a #1 pick like that, I would have been focused on trying to surround him with other pieces. Not flipping him for a draft pick and prolonging the rebuild. Not to mention, rolling the dice that this pick pans out. Edit: Not to mention, we already had the horsefeathering #1 pick that year, too!
  25. Hold on... didn't we just establish that Brand was way better than Horace Grant over the first 8 years of his career? Now you are saying they were comparable, which was your original point that I disputed. Over that 6-8 year period, Brand was significantly better than any 6-8 year period in the careers of Tyson Chandler of Horace Grant. If you want to talk overall career numbers, yes, obviously they level out due to Brand suffering a major injury. How are we managing to have the same debate twice in one thread? If I'm overvaluing how much Brand meant to those shitty Bulls teams, then okay, but that's obviously not the only point being debated here. We pretty much wrapped all of that up already, and then you brought up Horace Grant.
