That's horrible. I was just thinking about how awesome his resume must look. Not that he's gonna be looking for a new job at his age, but if you work somewhere for 65 years, you've gotta be a pretty decent employee :-)) -

I still have faith that he'll get it together. He's Rich Harden. Not sure what's up with him, though. He's just been way more hittable this year, and had control problems at the same time.

What a genuinely horrible idea. Anyone who builds a team around Sam Fuld should not only be fired, but also shot. Theriot is a keeper though. I don't think I'd fire Lou just yet... but if we don't make the playoffs, then I'd probably part ways. I wouldn't mind Ryno. And screw draft picks.

So if the Cards get Halladay and the Brewers get Vazquez, Jim Hendry really better do something. At least sign BJ Ryan or trade for a nice bat.

The June numbers look a lot better, but he still walked 6 and struck out only 3. I want to see that ratio improve. I wouldn't be against signing him and giving him a chance, though. Yeah, the WHIP is still too high, but I wouldn't worry too much. He's brought it down significantly 3 months in a row... so I would have confidence that it'll be lower this/next month.

It should also be noted that Ryan has improved three straight months: April: 11.12 ERA, 2.50 WHIP, .364 BAA May: 6.35 ERA, 2.12 WHIP, .318 BAA June: 1.04 ERA, 1.46 WHIP, .207 BAA Go sign him right now. Seriously, Jim Hendry, go do it.

Lou just said in the post game that he could use Fox as a backup C. Um, Lou does know that Fox was moved to a new position because he wasn't a good catcher, right? Right?! I wouldn't mind seeing it. Any way we can get Fox's bat in the lineup is good... especially over Hill. Maybe we can use Hill for late-inning defense, but I would at least give Fox a shot and see how bad he is behind the plate. -
Go sign the guy for the league minimum. Maybe a switch to the NL will do him some good. It's worth a shot.

I was at the game and it was pretty frustrating and depressing. We hit a bunch of balls right on the button and hit them right to people. We didn't have much to cheer about the entire time. I will say that Soriano is looking HORRIBLE at the plate. Even in the at bats where he got hits... I couldn't believe he hit the ball at all. His timing, his swing, and his eye are all so far off right now. He's also getting booed really strongly. I guess he deserves it but I still almost feel bad for the guy. Good to see Z pitch a decent game, though. It was a nice pitcher's duel and my first game of 09. EDIT: Has anyone else seen the "Ozzie Mows Wrigley Field" t-shirts? As I said, this is the first game I've been to this year, and I hadn't seen the shirt until then. I think it's awesome considering all the comments he has made about the ballpark.
