  1. THe Trib did something on this a few days back http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/opinion/chi-050809wischlist,1,3988645.htmlstory?coll=chi-opinionfront-hed Kasey
  2. Easy...Tony LaRussa pinch ran for Ron Santo, Opening day 1973 Kasey
  3. We opened at home in 2001 vs Montreal (4/2/01) Man, was that a cold day. The later the better is fine by me. I agree...on both points Kasey
  4. We opened at home in 2001 vs Montreal (4/2/01)
  5. I can't belive it. The Cubs do something classy, Congratulating the White Sox and all the posts are bashing Dusty and the Cubs. Unbelieveable.
  6. From the days of just no one in the seats , to the green tarp covering the center field seats, to no one again to the bushes..it doesn't really matter. I'm interested in seeing how the resturant works out. And as for the Pirates (yes, I still feel they are pirates...making big bucks off the Cubs and with little responsibility to the problems they cause in the neighborhood) to hell with them. Ever since people with a 6 pack and a lawn chair were replaced by $200 seats on the roofs, I have had little use for them. Kasey
  7. Unfortunately, the Cubs traditionally have been one of the last teams to release their schedule. In the last 3 years, it has not come out until sometime in the middle of November Kasey
  8. Most teams call up a 3rd catcher at this time of the year. Gives them more flexability to use the other 2 for flip flops and pinch hitting in the last month. Kasey
  9. I'm not going to sell it, that was just a throwaway comment while I was thinking of the weird things and the enormous prices some things get on eBay. In fact, it went back in the freezer when I was done cleaning it out and defrosting it. I remember buying these at Walgreens, saving a few, and eating some back when they came out. I guess all but this one I eventually ate. WhenI got married, my wife asked me about them, but since I have so much Cubs stuff, she didn't blink an eye when I told her I was saving it (she did, however roll them a bit!). Kasey

  11. I don't know if I got to clean out my chest freezer more often or what, but as I was cleaning it out, I found this Ryne Sandberg candy bar (from who knows what year). Its still all there, never opened (or eaten). I wonder what I can get for this on eBay? Kasey http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v96/kaseyi/sandberg-bar.jpg

  13. Full Article Am I reading too much into this? I suppose I am but it fits the theme around here for the better part of the past month+. Sandberg was in his 3rd full season with the team in 1984. He came up at the end of the year in 81 with the Phillies, and played full time with the Cubs in 82 & 83 so by 84, he was an established player. Kasey
  14. Gates open at 11:20, but since you have bleacher tickets, I would suggest you get there around 9:30-10:00 to get in line. THe line forms pretty quick. so get there early.
  15. THe Cubs.Com 40 man roster shows Cliff Bartosh. He was outrighted to Iowa when Jerome Williams was brought up, so he should not be on the 40 man roster.
  16. You forgot 1 more part For hitters, a player will be considered a rookie if he had less than 130 at-bats in any previous season. For pitchers, if they haven't pitched more than 50 innings in a previous season, they are considered rookies. Also, if any player spent more than 45 days on a team's active roster, they cannot be considered a rookie. Kasey
  17. He wore 11 for the Tribe He also wore #50 for the Twins (95-01) and #23 for the mets in 01.
  18. My guess...since he is a veteran...and has established #50 as his, he will make a deal with Ohman to get #50..then Ohman will get a new number. Kasey
  19. When Corey was sent down..there was a quote from Gene Clines saying he has been working and working with Corey and in batting practice and in the cages, he seemed to be doing all the right things, but once he got into the games, Corey always reverted back to his old ways. Maybe this wakeup call of being sent down has gotten Corey to actually put into practice what he is working on, but then again, once he comes back, he has to keep doing things the new way, and not go back to his old ways again. Found the article http://www.suntimes.com/output/cubs/cst-spt-corey09.html
  20. Yes, you do. I picked mine up on the 16th and they actually ran the card thru to get the tickets that were purchased against it. They said this was a new way this year. They didn't need the order numbers (I brought all my email confirmations because last year I needed thoses), but they did need the credit card. Kasey
  21. That's what multiple credit cards/email/mailing addresses are for. I maintain several just for my ticketing needs. You guys must be better than I...I have enough trouble just maintaining the 1 charge card for me and my wife. Kasey
  22. They may have stopped selling them, but for all the people that had them, of course we would get to keep ours. Yeah, the stopped selling those to new season ticket seekers in 2003 because the demand for season tickets was so high. Bastards!! Although I did create my own night and weekend bleacher package yesterday so I shouldn't be complaining. After all my work yesterday, now I feel I can brag about what I got...not sure if this is a complete list as I am still trying to track down everything I bought for myself. Hopefully we can get a tickets exchange out here, because some of these may become available. The only game I wanted but didn't get was June 13-FLA. But if anyone has any on here they should push them vance's way...maybe I could facilitate a 3 way trade so Vance can get tix. April 9-Mil-4 bleachers May7-Phi-6 Terrace May 20-CWS-6 Terrace May 21-CWS-4 bleachers May 29-Col-6 bleachers June 11-BOS-4 bleachers Jul-2-WSH-6 bleachers Jul-16-Pit-6 bleachers Jul 25-SF-6 bleachers Jul 30-AZ-6 bleachers Aug 13-STL-4 bleachers Aug 14-STL-6 Terrace Aug 22-ATL-2 UD Aug 27-FLA-6 bleachers Aug 28-FLA-6 bleachers Aug 29-LA-6 bleachers Sept 17-STL-6 bleachers Sept 19-STL-4 UD Sept 24-Hou-6 bleachers Uhhhh..you might be in a bit of trouble there. There is a limit of 42 total tickets for the entire weekend purchase. This will be verified by credit card/email/mailing address. You probably will have several of these purchases voided by the Cubs when they go thru their system - and you will NOT be notified if these are voided (see notice in the email you get after purchasing tickets (from the website - http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/chc/ticketing/singlegame.jsp from the email receipt Kasey
