  1. I am going to have such a schadenfreude boner if we win tomorrow and then sweep them in Chicago.
  2. The infield defense was pure sexiness tonight. But, we can also turn it into a complete dongfest, if we so please. If Soler is healthy, (assuming we'll play Rizzo, Russell, Bryant, Schwarber, and Fowler every game) we'll have at least three of: Soler, Castro, Baez, Austin Jackson, Montero, or Coghlan on the bench. And we have a bunch of guys that can move all over . And we can bring in defensive replacements if we get a lead. It's very nice.
  3. Yep. Though, there are lots of reasons he deserves slapped.
  4. A win tomorrow brings us to within 5 in the loss column!
  5. I can't wait to read through this thread and see the usual suspects lose their collective [expletive] about Hammel walking two guys in the first.
  6. Any word on what kind of velocity Ramirez had on his most recent rehab stint? If he is still low-90s, then yuck. But, Ramirez of last year would be a nice addition for the playoffs. That is assuming we use this hypothetically healthy Ramirez in a 6th/7th inning role instead of Rodney, which I am kinda doubting would happen, anyway.
  7. Well, no Dexter sucks. But, an infield with Starlin, Addison, and Javy is pleasing, in that a lot of people have been waiting to see that infield for over a year now, back before Starlin sucked.
  8. It's more about how good Edwards was this year. We're talking a guy who struck out 1/3 of the batters he faced, allowed 8 XBHs - 7 of them doubles, allowed a sub-.500 OPS including a sub-.300 OBP and sub-.150 BAA....These are some dominant numbers. That he happened to already be the best pitching prospect is coincidence, I was on the fence about him until this performance. How were you on the fence about Edwards until this performance? He's literally always struck out a ton of guys, limited extra-base hits, and been, generally, unhittable. He's done this year what he's always done, in that regard. Except, now, he is walking guys at a rate that would make Carlos Marmol blush. And, he's not even starting anymore.
  9. I don't think he was horrible. I just think it was a horrible year for him, being that he entered the year in most people's Top 100. I guess, in the sense that he stayed healthy after dealing with injury last year, I shouldn't say horrible. Because it would have been worse if he just didn't pitch. But, a Top 100 prospect being moved to the pen and then walking around 18% of hitters he faced is not a good thing. And, yeah, guys like Williams and Markey often win these org awards because they have better seasons than prospects that are ranked higher than them. I'm not saying Markey is better than Edwards, just that he had a better year.
  10. Let's win by 9 again. Also please start Javy, so I can see him show off his dong and then admire it.
  11. Yep, Contreras is an incredibly easy choice.
  12. he was at .4 WAR in an injury riddled 38 games and coming off a 5.8 win season in 2003 (not to mention several other great seasons past) and this was when steroids were still a thing and we had no worries about 31 year olds. and he was replacing AGon-y's sub replacement ass. Oh don't get me wrong the Nomar trade was a good trade for the Cubs and I was excited at the time. But there's a reason Theo made the trade and won the World Series that year. Yeah, and that is because the rest of his team was really [expletive] good.
  13. Williams is a good pick because he had the best season of any of our minor league pitchers. I would probably have to go through at least 3 or 4 guys before getting to Edwards for this award. Just off the top of my head: Williams, Markey, and Pierce Johnson all had better seasons. For one, they were starters. They pitched more innings. And they were more successful in those innings. I know you keep saying over and over, "Ah, forget about the walks." But, it's hard to do that when he walked like 7 guys per 9 innings. It was a pretty horrible year for him, mainly because he is a much, much better prospect than those guys and didn't pitch like it.
  14. Giants down 3-0 early. Might be 8.5 up in the wild card race at the end of the day
  15. Just in time for him to face Cole in the Wild Card Game.
  16. Imagining us winning the division mainly involves us winning 5 of 6 or all 6 that we play against them. Then, it's a possibility.
