  1. [expletive] yes! Win this game in walk-off fashion to clinch a playoff spot!
  2. Jorge walk-off dong is incoming.
  3. Probably a bit of both. BP's framing numbers look to account for what a catcher's pitching staff is like, umpires, and other factors. For reference, Montero is 4th in theirs at 12.8, Ross is 23rd at 3.4, and Schwarber is 66th at -0.2 http://www.baseballprospectus.com/sortable/index.php?cid=1819124
  4. Me, right now, waiting for this wild card game:
  5. Meh, that's probably the least I've cared about a loss all season. Let's fast forward two weeks.
  6. Alright, we'll start all over. Get on, Dex, and Schwarber will tie it.
  7. Well, this game kinda blows, but, my god, Jorge turning into the dongsmith I knew he was... it's just the [expletive].
  8. Rookies with 6-win seasons since 1980, according to fWAR: Mike Trout, Mike Piazza, Albert Pujols, Nomar Garciaparra, Ichiro Suzuki. Bryant is at 6.0 now.
  9. Dating back to his start on June 21, he has made 18 starts, pitched 134 innings, given up 73 hits, 2 home runs, and has a 0.94 ERA over that period.
  10. Usually I am anticipating the daily lineup being posted and hoping to see all the guys I want to be in there. At this point, the only thing that could really kill my vibe would be seeing, like, Szczur, or, god forbid, Herrera, in there. I want to see so many guys get ABs, and it's just not possible. So, instead, some have to come off the bench and homer like Jorge tonight. I mean, I honestly don't know what would be my favorite eight-man lineup right now.
  11. It's just that my mind has been in October for weeks now, with the division seemingly out of grasp in the final month.
  12. What sucks is that it could be Friday night after the Giants or Nationals lose, with us playing in the afternoon.
  13. The Cubs are 9.5 up on the Nationals and Giants and the Magic Number is down to 4. When do we clinch a playoff spot?
  14. If you want to be that guy, then go for it. I think nearly all of the rest of us are just going to appreciate this for what it is, though.
  15. Yeah, I really hated Ross at the start of the year, mainly because I hated the whole personal catcher thing, and how it ruined having a L/R platoon that we could use behind the plate. And he is a terrible hitter. But, he's been fantastic defensively. And once Castillo was dealt, the playing time at catcher hasn't been much of an issue. I mean, I would still prefer him to be on the weak side of a platoon, rather than a personal catcher, but whatever. Also, he seems like a cool dude. His teammates have been effusive in their praise of him. I'm not sure there is any value in having good clubhouse chemistry or being a good "clubhouse guy." But, at the same time, give me the cool, old guy that is willing to help out the young guys and can command their respect over the selfish [expletive] that doesn't give a [expletive] about anyone else, all day and every day. It might not help us, but it certainly isn't making us worse. At the very least, it's like having another coach on the staff. And hopefully he imparts some knowledge on Schwarber, if he were to move back behind the plate.
  16. unacceptable. you have two hands. He'll need at least a half-dozen hands to grab all the dongs.
