  1. The Cards just won on a brutal strike call to end the game. Up 2-1. Bases loaded. Full count. Called strike three. [tweet] [/tweet]
  2. Schwarber's walked twice and lined out to center.
  3. Yeah, trade now. We can't do this Butler/Lackey horsefeathers much longer. They both need to go ASAP.
  4. Nah, he's got this. Remember, we're in the Upside Down now. Or not
  5. I was just about to ask if his advanced stats suggested he was actually pitching well and not continuing to get lucky because he's only allowed 1 ER in his past 12 innings. But now he will give up a 3 run inning and it will be your fault (and a little mine) His FIP is like 4.2, which is solid. But that's only because he hasn't been giving up homers. And that's a complete aberration since everyone gives up homers now. And he's given up a ton of long flys to the wall. Basically, he's pitched pretty well, even if a little worse than his results indicate. But it's not likely to continue, because he actually sucks.
  6. Yeah, he's hitting the ball hard. And his contact issues haven't been as severe.
  7. It looks like Monty pitched pretty well again, though. Bad luck with sequencing in the fourth. And it looks like he got BABIP'd some later on. Plus the whole "literally no run support" thing. Still, he worked into the 7th. Kept the walks down. His emergence is the one saving grace right now.
  8. I just hate how much we're now relying on a pitcher whose career high in innings is 155.1 (and that was in 2015). Yeah, I meant more for 2018 and beyond. But that is an issue right now, among many others. Hopefully Hendricks will come back and be fine, and we can trade for someone else, and we won't have to rely on him as much this year. Right now, the rotation is in sad shape, though. And Monty is definitely our second-best starter. Lackey's got to go. And Butler sucks, too. But maybe with Hendricks + an addition, we could get rid of Lackey and have Anderson/Butler fill in for Monty to keep his innings down.
  9. I actually look forward to Montgomery starts more than anything these days. Jon is still a stud, but I know that. Monty might be the key to our season, though. If he can keep pitching like he has since being moved to the rotation, that alleviates a lot of concerns we have moving forward.
  10. Never say die with the Brewers pitching but hopefully at the least the Brewers make the reds use a bunch of pitchers tonight Also, and I don't know who the Brewers play next since I don't care about them, but getting their Jimmy Nelson start out of the way against the Reds is a bit of a waste.
  11. I'd think today's game is a perfect example about why trading Wade Davis would be a dumb idea.
  12. If you can't see a Nats bullpen meltdown coming, then you aren't seeing very well.
  13. It's too bad that in the playoffs we might have to face this team we just split with on the road.
