  1. As has the thumb injury right? My guess is if hendricks was healthy jake would sit for a couple of weeks and let it heal but with butler and montgomeey already in the rotation and Lackey a piece of horsefeathers he is trying to grind it out or something. Has it been going on all year? I wasn't sure. If so, that might be a good explanation. If he was able to hold up for a whole 7 innings his last start, maintain his velocity, pitch decently, and didn't have problems with the thumb, then maybe it is just the thumb. And it would make sense, because the thumb thing would pop up in the middle of the start.
  2. Could the thumb injury have anything to do with it? Fwiw the 4th start was pretty dominant though I have no idea if his velo dropped during the start. His velo did hold up throughout that game. Not sure if the thumb injury has something to do with it. Maybe. But this has been going on all year with him.
  3. Is it velocity across the board on pitches? Because it definitely seemed like he was throwing more changeups/sinkers as the game went on and not so much just his FB/Cutter. Throughout the year, he's lost a lot of velo on all of his pitches as games have went on. But he hasn't changed his mix of pitches too much. Tonight he definitely did. Lots more changeups in 3rd and 4th inning.
  4. My possibly serious meatball theory is that Jake could have a decent second career as a closer. Not a bad idea, if he's even physically able to pitch in another MLB game after this year.
  5. So I just made a twitter thread about some bad stuff. Arrieta's been losing velocity in-game more than any pitcher in MLB. And that's not good. And tonight it was really bad. [tweet] [/tweet]
  6. Dammit, Tommy. You can't even throw to first from a shift?
  7. How many attempts would it take before Miggy caught Turner trying to steal second? 1,000?
  8. We'll we've driven his pitch count up. 56 through 3. Knowing Dusty, he's only got about 100 left in him.
  9. Holy horsefeathers. He doesn't need that much of a zone.
  10. Happ being faster than Trea Turner is the most shocking thing I've read in awhile.
  11. Davis would've had to hit, or TLS would've had to come in to play defense. Maddon really should've left Zagunis in. My problem was pulling Uehara for Duensing. It is nice to see Grimm has earned that much trust. I'm pretty shocked by it. Grimm was a hot mess early in the year. I know he's done this before, but I had a hard time believing he was going to bounce back like this.
  12. That's great to hear about Paredes' defense. I was definitely skeptical just from looking at his body. But I was more and more impressed with his glove the more I saw of him. And his arm definitely stood out. It was pretty strong. But he was very accurate with his throws. Right on the money every time. And he did look smooth out there.
