Duker, This is just between you and I. I'd appreciate you never making this public, but I'm starting to calmly wonder about the Cubs. Not in a panic way, but more just in what I see. I'm not great with numbers, so I count on others to show why these takes are wrong. But in watching the Cubs, they seem to be (slowly) fading away as we enter the stretch run. Like, the starting pitching is consistently giving up runs early, and since the All-Star break, our offense hasn't been able to compensate enough. There was that meeting with Chili during the Dodgers series out in LA, and immediately after, the offense started to flourish for a long stretch. Consistently great at-bats. And when our pitchers put us in those early holes, there was that period of time when you knew the offense would actually be able to come back and make up for it. What I'm seeing over the past three weeks, is that our starting pitching still is putting us in holes, but our offense is not able to overcome it with any consistent production. It seems like a bad combination. I'm hoping KB can be back soon and our lineup can be normal again, but I'm getting fatigued seeing our lineup construction recently and how guys with little slugging ability are right in the middle of it. I still believe we will make the playoffs because you are positive of it, which is good enough for me. Thanks for listening. Go Cubs.
