horsefeathers happens. They still suck. And they played over their heads and did way better than they actually are. That will happen sometimes. -- Duke, October 1, 2017
You're such an angry, angry person. Well that's definitely comforting. I'm just irrationally terrified (shocking, right?) of the game series we have there coming up. You should be.
I'm really disappointed the umpire didn't take the tongue lashing he deserved for making a huge mistake in a pivotal game this season. And compounding it with the embarrassing ejection of Contreras. I respect that. I'm just more disappointed we couldn't get out the pitcher even after the mistake.
Agreed. But then it rubbed off on Willy in this case, and that loss in a tight game is especially bad. That, and the "melting down" look isn't a great look ever. I've yet to see a replay showing Contreras doing anything resembling melting down until after he was already ejected. Just getting ejected is a problem.
Actually, just a few weeks ago or a month at the latest, the same thing happened where it was a strike and the dude started walking back, but it wasn't called. Whoever was pitching for us simply got him out later in the at bat.

Martinez was heading to the dugout! on that pitch it was so unquestionably a strike Yup. Awful call. But Lackey had already beaten himself before the next pitch because he couldn't keep his composure.
I feel like we're the only team that the juiced ball has actively hurt because not only do our pitchers give up lots of dongs but our hitters hit less and not one of them is having a crazy outlier year. i mean, we are 8th in all of MLB in home runs. Its' kind of the only way we score a lot of times.
