  1. YUP. But based on tonight's lineup and tomorrow's pitching choice, it's like they aren't even taking this series seriously. That said, I suppose Hendricks would have sucked any way. Lester has allowed 1 run vs the Brewers in 2 starts and has been hit pretty hard by the Cardinals this year by giving up 9 runs in 2 starts. Not quite sure why people are denying the logic of the situation. Quit crying about the Brewers catching us. If we can’t hold onto the wild card we don’t deserve the playoffs anyway. As long as the Diamondbacks or somebody make it over the Brewers, I don't care about us making it or not. Well, so long as the Nationals still held onto the top Wild Card. I looked at their sked today. They have a tough road these last 20 games.
  2. This actually made me sad. I realized no opposing fan says that about any of our guys. Like, I don't think any of them care if their team pitches to Kris Bryant.
  3. If they don’t do it people cry that they are settling for the wild card game. the cardinals series is almost 2 weeks away. the difference between winning or losing the last game against the brewers is huge. 2 games out instead of 4 gives them life. the brewers are closer to them than the cardinals are. 4. I think he should just tape it up and play. Or just use one hand to bat. And if it's the right hand that's broken, he thankfully can throw with his left. He could even just have them cut the hand off and he'd be better than Addison Russell.
  5. Ah, crap. I just did a quick copy and paste because it got too close to game time. I'm never doing another game thread again. But I'm not taking responsibility for the loss. That was going to happen regardless.
  6. the brewers schedule is a joke the rest of the way. they need to split Oh, they absolutely need to. But as you said, for the second straight season, we fucked up when playing the Brewers the last two series. I don't know. Maybe the Marlins actually have a better chance of beating them than we do.
  7. A few things 1. I just checked the score right before they gave up the winning run. Did this game actually start at 6:10? How does a regulation 3-2 game go like 3 hours, 30 minutes? I must have had the time wrong. 2. I like to write this every other day or so, although admittedly it's on the Edith Cox annoying level: The Cubs can't score runs without hitting home runs. It's really crappy. I suppose a lot of teams are like that in 2019, but it's still crappy. #CantScoreWithoutTheDong 3. I can't be mad. I really did think they were going to get swept, so to only lose three of four is still better. I wish they would have won the last game instead of the first though, because they really did have a chance to then steal a game over the next three and keep the Brewers exactly where they were when we started this season. Now, it's a much more annoying feeling than had it been the opposite way and we won the last one. Instead, the Cubs are letting them right back into the Wild Card race along with other teams. I think the Cubs kind of suck. Not fully suck, but they aren't awesome. Sort of horsefeathers them. horsefeathers the Brewers more, but horsefeathers the Cubs for just not winning.
  8. Here is a thread for this game. Never done one. The Cubs will lose tonight so I won't have to do another. Give me a like.
  9. Maddon said the team doctors recommended he sit for two days. I thought the Cubs were going to get swept. So I can't really complain about them losing three of four, although after they won the first one it would have been cool to split.
  10. Oddly, if you substitute one double in there, that is my baseball wet dream.
  11. horsefeathers. We are getting swept. At least nobody will be in the stadium to watch this one tonight.
  12. Man, how are you not most worried about the Brewers? I realize I'm paranoid, but I think you got this all wrong. We are closer to the Cardinals for the division (whom most have rightfully given up on thinking we can catch or at least think it’s a long shot) than the Brewers are to us. To be totally transparent, and as you already know, I have Brewers phobia and hate everything Brewers. I'm also a pessimist, which made 2016 great. However, when it comes to the Brewers I'm always expecting the worst-case scenario. So, while the Cubs actually have the opportunity to take care of business themselves and knock the Brewers really far back this weekend, I just know that's not how it's going to work because that would be too much baseball happiness for me. No, I'm expecting to get swept and watch them get right back in it because that's the life of a baseball pessimist who hates the Brewers. However, getting to vent on a message board is much better than paying to see a shrink to talk about this. horsefeathers everything.
  13. Man, how are you not most worried about the Brewers? I realize I'm paranoid, but I think you got this all wrong.
  14. I'm saying the person who did it made a weird claim. Oh, gotcha. My bad.
  15. Also, I think it can be concluded that Theo does much better on trades than free agent signings. There have been a few clunkers, but for the most part, the man does really well with it and should do more of that.
  16. That's quite a claim in number 1. As for the rest... https://www.cubsinsider.com/2019/08/01/nick-castellanos-should-hit-a-lot-more-homers-at-wrigley/ I'm confused by your point on No. 1, Jersey. One poster on here was worried about his production because of that reason, and I can't remember who, and I want to playfully be able to make fun of them now. As far as the man I think some are referring to as "Big Dick" I do think he's a professional hitter who could flourish with the long ball now that he's out of Detroit. I also think he hits the ball hard a lot and will still get a ton of doubles, and for meatballs, he seems to have more "energy" on a team with a bunch of dead butts except for Willy and Javy.
  17. 1. Which one of you was worried about his production if he got traded to us because he had to learn a new league and pitchers? 2. I feel like Cox is out there somewhere smiling, telling himself that Nick has proven the point that some trade deadline guys turn it on in a new situation. Of course, he also might have to admit that Addison Russell is not one of the #Best25 and that he is a better minor league hitter than MLB one. 3. Signing Nick to a long-term contract makes me uncomfortable just because I think TT is still not a big fan of long-term Nick and he seems to be a better GM than Jed Hoyer at times.
  18. It means the Brewers didn't get in. That's all I care about, actually.
  19. Yup. If Javy was in there, it's the very bestest lineup we can put out. If it doesn't score a good amount of runs, there is nothing else to do for this season.
  20. OK. Turning off again. They looked just like I remembered them.
  21. OK. We are going to start watching the Cubs for the first time in over a week right now. Hopefully, that will change things up. Not sure how, but it's worth a try.
  22. Wow, 20 innings without a dong. If that's the way you are going to score a lot of your runs, you have to flash your dong more.
  23. At least it's far more frustrating to lose 1-0 than 4-0.
