  1. Wick for tonight might have been a better choice for the ninth than Kimbrel. I understand you can't do that, but still.
  2. Tell me about this Rowan Wick guy. What has made him all of a sudden so good when he was a career minor league guy for the most part? I suppose he's still only 26. Is his stuff legit or just a small sample run of 17 innings and whatever?
  3. It wasn't a debate or discussion anyone was actually having; it was an odd non-sequitur reply to people pointing out that the job Epstein and co. are currently doing is looking pretty shaky at best. Let's not ignore the weirder part that multiple people would apparently be fine with their favorite baseball team being terrible for years because their favorite baseball executive is HoF-worthy. Opps. I only got in on the end of the convo. My bad.
  4. Theo punched his ticket to the Hall of Fame the night the Cubs won Game 7. Now, whether someone thinks he should be a Hall of Famer certainly can be a discussion, but he's still already in.
  5. Well this ruins the Castellanos is a star and a bargain at 6/200 bit I was going to do. I’m glad he’s hit the ground running, I’m skeptical of him in the longer run, but the stretch run benefit is undeniable even if he goes in the tank the rest of the year. Gotcha. Thanks.
  6. If TT is reading the board tonight, have you changed your thoughts on Castellanos at all? I know you weren't very impressed with him and didn't think the acquisition was going to be very impactful. I also assume you are getting to watch him more and wondering if this is just a hot streak or if you are more impressed with him than you originally thought? I keep waiting for him to cool off because........TT is almost never wrong.
  7. You have got to be horsefeathering kidding me.
  8. I'd first feel better if we could, like, dominate the Pirates for a game.
  9. That was a really pathetic win. But alas, a win. Also, I hate our horsefeathering offense.
  10. Agreed. The Pirates are so bad that they almost fell into a win last night, but when they even blew that, that was the final nail. It's ovah.
  11. Have a feeling it’s about to go on an upswing relatively soon So long as the wind is blowing out and they can dong.
  12. He’s just waiting for free agency and a big payday elsewhere. The owners didn’t sign his friend Harper and I still think he’s ticked about that. I also think that it was that they didn’t even try. As a fan it was frustrating but I can’t even imagine how maddening it must have been to be a star on this team, hear the President of your organization discuss how the offense just broke, and then two weeks later cry poor as two young offensive superstars (including his friend Harper) sit on the market without a [realistic] offer from your club. Players don't give a horsefeathers about this as much as fans. Show him the most money and he will sign. I'm sure he's far more pissed they dicked with his service time and cost him a year of free agency.
  13. http://i.imgur.com/HJfk58T.gif Yes! Thank you for getting that reference.
  14. Eh, at least when it comes to the bullpen, I'm pretty sure Maddon has always sucked with that. Even in Tampa. ETA: Now that I think about it, I wonder if Joe has ever been a good in-game manager? It seems like his strength was clubhouse and moral and cool manager. The only problem is that he sucks as an in-game manager still and his players have tuned him out on the other part.
  15. Theo doesn't want firing the World Series winning manager as part of his own Wikipedia entry. He's OK about having Addison Russell on his Wikipedia because pro sports teams don't care about that kind of stuff.
  16. “We got to keep going. I don’t know what else to say.” -- Kris Bryant They are basically yelling for Rocky to throw in the towel.
  17. And didn't we also get that 3.5 game lead over the course of like five games after being back a game?
  18. Also, can we go back to the Back to the Future game threads? That was fun.
