Gawd, I know this is meatbally and I deserve any insults I get. But I've thought way back since the first half of 2017 that the main core lost their edge -- I think they are now referring to it as hunger -- by winning the biggest championship in pro sports history and doing it at such young ages. It's like when I finally beat Tyson. I lost that hunger to beat him again. I know that sounds stupid because they have won so many games since that time, but I don't think I've ever sensed the same drive as I did in 2015 and 2016 when they were going for it. It's why I advocate trading how ever many players they want from this team. KB and Rizzo, even. Don't really care. The only one I don't want traded is Baez because he's too fun and if we are going to suck or be like this, at least he will be a bright spot. It was an interesting five-year run. They got us what we all needed. Now it's time to say goodbye to Joe and a lot of the gang and thank them for their contributions. Thanks for reading. I understand I'm a moron.

I didn't actually watch the game, but it seems like he just left Kintzler in there to die instead of at least trying CPR by going to someone else.

The problem IMO is the roster. The bullpen especially is horsefeathers and the offense isn’t deep. The owners going on the cheap in the off-season is coming back to bite them in their Trump loving ass. Unloveable Losers. Too easy of an excuse. I believe it runs much deeper than that.

You aren't wrong. It might not matter, but with just 40 games left in the season, it's worth a try. It's probably over either way, but at least they'd be trying one last option rather than just watching the team slowly quit. The only reason it won't happen is that I'm not sure any of the management team wants to end this five-year run of winning by firing the manager that led the team to a World Series title. I think they'd rather just end the season and have a clean break. But I'd like to see them do it.

No way the Cubs wanted to score that third run with less than two outs. Make it exciting!

I would agree. I suppose there is a chance it could still be scoreless.

The Cubs are just as boring following on espn and not watching. But I will say they are awesome at getting a leadoff double and never moving the guy to third. Also, don't let the smart people fool you. We don't score much when we don't dong.

I'm still struggling being up 5-1 and getting the first guy of the inning out, only to watch our shortstop horsefeathers up and start the downfall. It was somewhat like Game 6 all over again or something. I know it's baseball and this stuff will occasionally happen, but you can't lose that game. You just can't.

I'll tell you why I really hate the Cubs right now. When they do something like this, I go into one of those moments where I start to wonder why I even care or cheer for laundry as a grown ass person who is older than all of these players and who doesn't know any of them personally. horsefeathers the Cubs for making me go down that path.

Not sure. Most of our starters have given up like 10 runs in three inning outings during that span.

For me, it was so awesome when we were up five in the loss column against the Brewers.......like five games ago.

It all started with David Bote botching a grounder, too. What a bizarre sport this is. There would have been two outs and nobody on..........and a few minutes later, we just blew a game in a horrible fashion. This is a tough one. It really is.

Great job by Cubswin11 way back in like May for saying things were turning around. He took some abuse, but he might be right. Well, he is right. He has vastly improved. Would be amazing if this is the Yu going forward for a couple more seasons.

Those stats look nice. But this isn't Statis Pro Baseball; at the end of the day all that really matters is that they win more games than they lose, and that's something they've struggled with on the road all year. On paper we should be running away with this division, not locked in a tight pennant race with the Brewers and Cardinals. I definitely wasn't disputing that. More the argument that this team, which is 8th in OBP, 8th in slugging, and 10th in home runs is somehow overly dependent on hitting home runs. I did find today that they rank fifth in MLB in the largest percentage of runs scored via the home run. Now, I admit I suck at math and don't know what that means in terms of mattering, but I do think we rely on the dong a lot. However, I also am always looking to get more knowledge and, again, fully admit I probably don't know what I'm talking about.
