yup it's hendry's fault for not waiting for the market to completely tank like it did and everyone in baseball knew it except him. The market was slow all offseason. There were plenty of players Miles' level and better who signed minor league deals or cheap one-year deals before and after Miles. As for Heilman and Gregg, I don't have much of a problem with either of them. Orlando Hudson anyone?
It's not just Hendry, though. Traditional thinking tends to be that balance in a lineup is more important than having the best talent in the lineup. I remember numerous times last year and offseason when ESPN analysts would bemoan the lack of left handed hitting in the Cubs' lineup and that being why they lost to the Dodgers. Hendry is not alone in this thinking. SO considering this right handed hitting line up won 97 games playing mostly against right handed starters, how the [expletive] did they do that? Totally a [expletive] excuse for why they lost to the Dodgers when in reality the same hitters that were hitting against right handed pitcher all year long with great success stunk it up when it mattered
That's what teams do when they're not very good. I was at a friend's and was watching the Nuggets-Lakers game with more attention, but did Lou really leave Ascanio in to hit for himself and then immediately went to Cotts the next inning? Great managing there. Brenly thought that Z was supposed to be pinch-hitting for Ascanio there, but wasn't ready for some reason. Why the [expletive] would u pinch hit a pitcher when you have 2 lefties on the bench that normally are starters?
Yuck. Reed as the "cleanup hitter" and Micah as the 6th hitter? I think Lou is trying to put out a forfeit lineup. At this point, he may as well pull the Billy Martin pull names out of a hat. That's about as sorry a line up i've seen in my 20 plus years of watching the Cubs
Ir Aram is out until August, there is no realistic way this team, as it is right now, will even be in contention for the division when he comes back without some sort of trade for a LEGIT 3rd baseman with a bat
Right now i would be willing to sacrifice some defense if it meant more runs; you don't win many games scoring 1 run per game no matter how good your defense is
Funny crew here; i do live in Oklahoma, but not Norman; been lurking on here for over a year and finally decided to register a couple of weeks ago to join in the fun
Instead of suspending a pitcher for 6 games, why not just make it 2 starts? Might make some of these guys think twice about throwing about batter's heads; Beckett is an idiot anyway
