  1. And Torres and Jimenez are rocking the [expletive] out of the ball in AZ. We're going to need to petition the league to add additional positions in a couple years.
  2. Worst part of the deal is that it makes the rest of the trade season really boring.
  3. Multiple sources reporting that Samardzija and Hammel are both going to Oakland.
  4. For them to deal both pitchers this early, there's got to be a hell of a lot more than Russell.
  5. Tiny penis. I see a mouse head. A piece of pizza with bubes.
  6. I doubt we'd get anything better than Ruggiano. What's his control situation?
  7. Cubs currently have a positive run differential on the season.
  8. Barney and Sheerholts need to not suck for the next few weeks so some idiot will give us something decent for them.
  9. you sound like glenn beck Dominican facility? More like FEMA CAMP!
  10. It seems like it would be informative to look back and see how previous top prospects turned out under Hendry. There's a pretty good list of monumental busts. Did any position players besides (briefly) Soto and Castro pan out? There were some decent pitchers developed, but still a pretty bad track record. It seems like Hendry was a decent scout who put almost zero emphasis on development, which is a strength of the new front office. There was some decent talent when Theo took over, but what are the odds that that talent would have turned out any better than the rest of the talented prospects from Hendry's tenure?
  11. Eloy Jimenez finally playing, and he gets a 2B in his first AB.
  12. A situation where you need contact and pinch hit Lake. Bad choice.
  13. Which is confusing because his donger is a double.
  14. Damn. Bryant's went out at the 408 mark and cleared the fence by plenty. EDIT: I'm going blind, it's 400, not 408. Still crushed it.
  15. Alcantara's looking more and more like he could be another one.
  16. Has there been a better 1-2-3 this year than Arrieta-Samardzija-Hammel? Shame there will only be one left next year.
  17. Kyle, do you know what the word "trajectory" means? Your'e the one who used it.
  18. Screw around with his hitting approach and watch him struggle all year? I was more under the impression that they basically told Starlin to be Starlin this season and he's gone back to the player we knew and loved. Yeah, but they're taking credit for it, as if their screwing around caused him to end up roughly where his career trajectory was taking him anyway. "Just like Castro!" is going to be the go-to for any young player having a crappy season forever. Yeah, going from a .755 OPS (.347 OBP) his rookie season to a .753 OPS (.323 OBP) in 2012, add some trajectory and boom, .800 OPS. You were halfway to making a fair point and then you had to go and be all Kyle about it.
  19. .... I know I shouldn't read too much into these stats at low levels for a college bat who just finished his college season, buuut, those are some pretty good stats ….. Schwarber is 13 months older than Almora. Funny how Schwarber is perceived as so old that whatever good he does is to be expected and nothing to be excited about; while Almora is considered to be so young that whatever struggles he has are only to be expected and nothing to be worried about. While I agree that what Schwarber is doing is ridiculous and deserves massive credit, I disagree with this exact analogy. Schwarber is a year older and a level under. Being 20 and struggling in High A (not to mention he's showing signs of life) is fairly common. If he were a year older struggling, I'd be worried. As it is, I'm honestly not. I've read comments from somebody in the FO that suggest they're doing the same thing with Almora this year that they did with Castro last year. So I guess we just have to hope it has the same end result.
  20. College hitters are expected to go 4-5 with 2HR and a 2B.
