  1. Someone should get Theo's number from Bowden and we can give him a call to find out
  2. I doubt any of those guys are going out of their way with 7 [expletive] minutes left before the deadline to talk to you, Jim [expletive] Bowden. FFS
  3. Do they have any prospects that we could excited about? Most of their guys are kinda meh and in the lower levels, right?
  4. Finally coming to their senses and moving Chapman to the rotation for the playoff push?? Their bullpen should not be an area they are giving up resources to add guys.
  5. The hell?!? I don't think I've ever heard anything about Soriano, during his time with the Cubs, in regards to him being a bad teammate/distraction/not hard worker/etc.
  6. Blink Colletti, blink. Probably should throw in Gould to make sure you still have the deal locked up
  7. I fully expect for this to get [expletive] upon, but Darwin Barney currently has a WAR of 4.1, which I assume goes up if successfully moved to SS. To put it into perspective, Elvis Adrus, who is obviously a more attractive option has a WAR of 2.1. While your average fan would respond with something like that's why WAR is such a dumb stat, many new age GMs think otherwise, and Andrew Friedman certainly fits that mold. And a catcher they want? If Soto really is a NT candidate, may as well throw him in. If they're looking for a veteran middle reliever, 4th OF, or utility guy, we have one of each if they insist on a sweetener. James Shields is going to be 31 in December, and having a forgettable season but he does have team options for 2013&2014 of 9 and 12 MM respectively. Nice alternative to paying 3/45-50 or 5/65-75 for one of the remaining FA options. He also happens to fill one of our biggest needs. I am not disagreeing with the fact Barney could be a SS option for them (he was one up until he got called up) and Friedman certainly is a smart enough GM to look into it. But presumably if they traded for Barney/Soto they would be buyers and probably wouldn't be including Shields or any other pieces off their ML roster in return for those guys.
  8. Oliver Perez is still in the league, I did not know that
  9. He's kind of solid at everything, but not elite at anything. Would Orlando Cabrera be a good comp?
  10. Yeah, no [expletive] [expletive] KG
  11. Travis Wood is what he is a 4/5 starter. He's going to have starts like this throughout the season but he also will have 15 starts +/- where he goes 6-7IP and gives up 3 or less runs and keeps the team in the game.
  12. Vitters has jumped him in my personal prospect rankings. Vitters at least appears to be improving on his weaknesses (being more selective, taking walks, power has been good enough and depending on who you listen to his defense may or may not be improving at 3B) and it's obvious there is no sign Jackson is improving his striking out problem
  13. The solution here is simple, trade Dempster for Dwight Howard
  14. iirc, he said he'd be pitching in games in july. not a good sign I am pretty sure that's true but I also think he said late July so hopefully he makes an appearance soon.
  15. Somebody with Twitter (I don't have it) needs to retweet this @thekapman asap
  16. I think Vogelbach needs a lot more things to go right/fall his way than Jackson does to at least stick in the majors as a semi-regular/backup player. However I could see the argument for Vogelbach's ceiling being a little higher if a lot of things go right he could be a 35-40HR player.
  17. Once there is a solution here (whether he ends up getting traded or not) I think we all can agree that Treymon needs to summarize these events through illustrations a la the Theo/Ricketts/Bosox thread viewtopic.php?f=2&t=60114
  18. This is quickly turning into a discussion around what Dempster can/can't do! Baez needs to put Dempster in his place and tell him he's the only one in this organization that can do whatever the [expletive] he wants.
  19. Just wait until he's traded for an absolutely awful return, we will get to do it all over again!
  20. I don't think it really is all that uncommon for FO guys to not travel with the team during the regular season on road trips. They probably do once in a while but for the most part I think they stay at their hometown offices.
  21. Pffft. That's just reasonable fan concern. Nothing wrong with that! Who said the death threats came from Cubs fans? I know some Braves fans who are pissed that Dempster turned them down. Dempster isn't black or any other kind of minority (other than ginger and Canadian) so that rules out Cubs fans as leaving threats. They only do that to the colored's They only do that to the colored's what? Jacque Jones, Milton, Hawkins all claimed they received death threats/hate mail while on the Cubs. Can't think of any white dudes who have.
