  1. Keep them under 6 total HR and we got em' right where we want em'
  2. It's possible Volstad gives up more runs than one of the teams score tonight depending on how "doomie" his inning of doom is.
  3. Agreed, but outside of the top 5 (Baez, Soler, Almora, Vizcaino, Villanueva) there's a large pool of guys who can fit anywhere from 6-10 and solid arguments can be made for about 7-10 guys to be in that range of 5 guys in any given order.
  4. Sample size be damned!!!! Is there a specific innings played/PO/A ceiling that when a player typically hits it his UZR numbers normalize/are sustainable?
  5. Thank you Jebus
  6. So I was bored at work and was google searching to see if the replacement refs have been really screwing up more on a play-by-play basis this offseason than the hold out refs in the past. Nothing of substance came up, but I did stumble upon this little gem of a video of Ed Hochuli. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mjJxTSlB_mk Oh, and Banedon that picture of the Packer Fan kind of looks like a fat Cutler who is dealing with Down's Syndrome
  7. I think he meant the North, but yea. Yeah, all of the OL in the North are pretty average if not below average. Vikings should be improved with the addition of Kalil and are probably the best, the Bears and Packers are probably about the same Detriot probably has the worst OL. But arguments can be made for any one unit to be the best/worst.
  8. The Browns, Cardinals and Jaguars all look to be pretty bad as well. I think those 3 teams along with the Dolphins will combine for the top 4 picks in some order next year.
  9. Cubs told Greenberg "No thanks." http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/chi-cubs-take-a-pass-on-greenbergs-comeback-20120904,0,4216882.story Good decision. Yeah, nice of the Cubs to have a front office that is not into stupid pandering to the fans garbage like this. Old regimes would have not only signed him, but had some stupid on field ceremony for it. Well, no, they wouldn't. You mean you don't remember all those times Hendry and Co. brought back ex minor league players who flamed out or had their careers ended due to horrific injuries and let them have one AB then had a ceremony for said players after the game? pfft, talk about revisionist history on your end.
  10. Is it time we merge a magic number thread for the #2 pick in this thread? Seems like as good of thread as any to do it in.
  11. Colorado won tonight and Minnesota is going to, they are up huge on the White Sox. So the magic number for the #2 pick got slightly lower. Yay?
  12. Who the [expletive] [expletive] is Miguel Socolovich?
  13. That time will come soon, my friend. Very, very soon
  14. What the [expletive] Orioles!?!
  15. Do they plan on using him in the bullpen or rotation?
  16. I'd go Ridley and Gerhart (assuming AP is extremely limited, if he isn't I'd go D. Thomas)
  17. I didn't see it posted anywhere else, but Jonah Keri in his weekly power rankings article on Grantland mentioned that kevin Goldstein was hired by the Astros as their pro scouting director.
  18. That's a rather random way to define superstar now. I'd want to have Castro more than just about anybody else because of what his future should hold, but that doesn't mean he is currently the best of the best. A top 5 (probably 3) player at the hardest position to fill/find solid production from in baseball makes someone a superstar, at least in a broad spectrum. IMO
  19. Saw Shefter tweeted the Jets have something like $8m in cap space left. Their O-Line is pretty shitty, he could be a fit to go there.
  20. The Orioles/Royals problems of not being able to have great teams at the ML level despite having such highly rated systems proves how big a crapshoot it is to produce high level pitching talent in the minors. I kind of prefer the idea of trying to produce as many position players as possible (since they are easier to develop in numbers) and not worry as much about producing pitching prospects. Then when your position players are ready to contribute at the ML level go out and spend your resources on acquiring proven pitching (either through FA and spending money or trades and giving up young position players).
  21. Saw that too. The same guy had Cutler as MVP and Offensive POY, has any player ever won both? Don't they usually give those out to different guys? Didn't Rodgers get MVP last year and Brady or Brees OPOY?
  22. I think I will/would. I think Vizcaino might be my #1 pitching prospect though
