  1. Why even bring up the fact he used to play for the A's? He hasn't pitched for them since the end of a totally different era of baseball. And his injury history has one serious blemish on it: a TJS from 2008-2009, which he recovered from perfectly fine. If the Braves want to get rid of Hudson it's because he's old and expensive, not because he's got any serious injuries, and particularly none that he developed playing in Oakland. As with most ex-Cardinal pitchers, you have to worry about Haren dying unexpectedly :hello: =D>
  2. Loney to the Rays for about $2mm on a 1 year deal. He's been pretty bad the last few years, when he first came up I really liked him. Thought he could've been a lefthanded Derrek Lee.
  3. Them giving Headley an extension instead of trading him off for prospects leads me to believe they are looking to make some moves to compete now and not rebuild. So I could see them having interest in a combination of Barney, Marmol, Garza and Wood for immediate help instead of maybe waiting on prospects to develop.
  4. This, all I've heard is they might make him available but nothing linking the Cubs with him
  5. Sweet backdoor cover by the Eagles here, haha
  6. Oregon and Kansas State is kind of interesting since they were both in the title hunt so late in the year. It's interesting in that sense I guess. But I think Oregon is quite a bit better, I think they"ll win easily and by double digits.
  7. The BCS games kinda suck, outside of the ND/Bama game
  8. NFL will try to sweep this under the rug Yikes, if true
  9. =P~ He seems like a good target for 3B and makes sense the Padres might look to move him due to having Headley. He hit 30 HR between AA and AAA last year and had a .921 OPS combined between the two. Looks like he takes a decent amount of walks too. He's a pretty little guy though, baseball reference has him listed at 5'10" 195lbs.
  10. Agreed, you think they'd have interest in Wood? Granted the upside isn't there with Wood as there is in Delgado/Teheran but he gives them a safer bet to at least have a little bit above average season and pitch 200ish innings. Maybe they would value having a little more certainty at the #5 spot as they are definitely going to be in contention this year. Wood and Dejesus (and pay some of the money they are owed) for Delgado or Teheran? Also what pick(s) do we have in the Rule 5?
  11. Now there's a nice option for Soriano. Obviously for the LF part, not the lead off. Braves don't seem to give out too many big contracts, certainly not two in one season. Soriano could be a good fit for them in LF if we eat enough salary, and they have plenty to offer. Delgado anyone? Just make sure Soriano's not napping when it goes down. Wonder if they'd be interested in Dejesus for LF/lead off role. Obviously he's cheaper than Soriano, and we should be able to get an okay prospect for him (especially if we pay some or all of his salary). A Delgado type prospect might be a bit much to ask for unless we eat like all of Dejesus' salary and offer another prospect or something
  12. When is the last time the Bears beat an actual good team (like .500 team or playoff team)?
  13. Jennings just got ran the [expletive] over
  14. Luck: 17/38, 279 YDS, 2 TD'S, 3 INT'S and a 54.6 QBR But he should win the ROY over RGIII and is clearly better than him now because he doesn't have tattoos, shaved his head, and might get his team to a game over .500 or something like that
  15. That was the bend and do break, I believe
  16. Lake as a super-sub in a year or two is intriguing. I agree that I don't ever see him being a fulltime 3B/SS but if he can play SS/3B/2B and the OF he could be pretty valuable.
  17. Gotta think they might be switching to Webb soon
  18. What pick(s) do we have? Really would like to get Fields, but Perez, Chaffee, Lara, Pressly, and Woods are all intriguing on different levels.
  19. Taylor Martinez is so [expletive] bad
  20. My guess would be Baez is the A, Soler/Almora B+, Vizcaino the B, then Paniagua/Underwood/Johnson/Szczur/Candelario/Maples/Vogelbach/Villanueva/1 of Amaya/Alacantra are the B-'s.
  21. Interesting on Bourn, for the right contract I like it. But he doesn't seem like a guy who is gonna age well as him whole game is predicated on his speed.
  22. popovich is awesome and definitely has the right idea by thinking big picture with a veteran team. he should kindly invite stern to go [expletive] himself. I remember a game where Pops did that and the Spurs lost by like 40 and were down 50 at one point at Portland. And the league is clearly still trying to recover from the long lasting effects of that..... Stern needs to go die already. I think it's more important one of the best 5 teams in the league, that is anchored by a bunch of aging/breaking down veterans, is completely healthy during the playoffs than it is they play all 82 regular season games. It was the 4th game in 5 nights for them on a Thursday night in November that the casual fan wasn't going to watch anyways because nobody really cares about the NBA until Christmas and there was an intriguing NFL game on.
