  1. Probably something to do with Theo telling their GM to go [expletive] off after the swooped in and signed Sanchez and Jed sending a flaming bag of dog [expletive] to Comerica Park.
  2. Carlos Pena to the Astros for just under $3m for 1 year.
  3. Did DaBum or HCCF teach you how to write and structure a sentence? Not that I'm attacking you, but why is your spacing so off, for a lack of better terms? Makes it really hard to follow.
  4. Well, with about 7 +/- HC positions opening up presumably every assistant coach in the league is a "candidate." Also Gus Johnson is a [expletive] idiot when it comes to having actual knowledge about the sports he covers. I guess I'm just astounded that Schottenheimer's name would come up period. This is a guy who yanks Steven Jackson out of the game after he runs for 28 yards on back-to-back carries and calls three straight passes. He's done a decent job developing the Rams offense after Josh McDaniels did everything but chop Bradford's arm off, but I don't think he's good at making mid-game adjustments. I think he's pretty terrible at it. Nothing I disagree with here. He was pretty awful in NY too. There is going to be such a high level of turnover at HC spots that almost every assistant in the league will probably be mentioned as a potential candidate for most teams, though.

  6. How likely is it that Lake is our RH utility and/or 3B/OF platoon option to start the year? You think they will want him to start in AAA to get some more seasoning/experience playing different positions?
  7. Stephen Drew to the Red Sox on a 1 year $9.5mm contract. Would have been interested in him on a 1 year deal if he was willing to play 3B.
  8. I really like him. He will be #15 for me, but definitely could wind up being a top 10 guy for me next year. He made some nice adjustments/developments this past year.
  9. WOW, Patriots
  10. MVP. When was the last time a non QB won the award? Tomlinson in '06. Shaun Alexander won it in '05. I'm incredibly biased but he should win it. Yeah Manning has been awesome but they went to the playoffs without a QB last year. The Vikings were 3-13 last year, have the 26th ranked pass offense this year and are 8-6 because he's going to have 1,900-2,100 yards against 8 and 9 man fronts all [expletive] year. They've been without Percy for almost half the year. It's absurd. Peterson should absolutely win the thing. He's incredible. It's mind-boggling what he's doing. Minny has to make the playoffs for him to get serious consideration, though. If they don't, I think we'll have a situation like 2009 when Chris Johnson ran for 2000 yards for a 8-8 Titans team and won AP Offensive POY but Peyton Manning won the MVP. If Minny does make the playoffs, it's going to be close between him and Peyton. Agreed, if they don't make the playoffs someone else might win. But if breaks the single season record that might not matter. Brady and Manning will be in a close second I think.
  11. Vitters. I still am a believer he can hit ML pitching and he's still young. The adjustments/struggles when being promoted have already been touched upon. His hit tool is real and he's closer to the big leagues and plays a position that is hard to fill with even average players league wide. Johnson is far off, not that much younger than Vitters.
  12. Lake Underwood Candelario
  13. Do you have me on ignore? :( Overlooked your post about it somehow.....
  14. The Seahawks ran a fake punt and converted when they were up by 30 in the 4th quarter today
  15. MVP. When was the last time a non QB won the award?
  16. I didn't realize how bad the offense was last year and how it seems with just some moderate expectations out of guys we are improved in most spots. Bill James 2013 OPS projections for our guys, fwiw. C: Castillo .739 & Navarro .755 1B: Rizzo .862 2B: Barney .653 SS: Castro .794 3B: Valbuena .732, Vitters .704, Stewart .754 LF: Soriano .766 CF: Dejesus .734, Jackson .758 RF: Schierholtz .746
  17. I went with 65-69. The pitching as it is currently constructed (assuming everyone stays mostly healthy) is definitely capable of being in the top 1/3-1/4 of the league and being good enough to be considered a "playoff level pitching staff." The offense as it currently is will struggle to score runs and hit for power. Outside of Soriano and Rizzo there isn't another guy who you could comfortably project to hit more than 15 HR and Castro is probably the only other guy you can project to hit 10 or more. It's also not like the guys who don't hit for power make up for it in great on base skills either (OBP/BA) or are even good base stealers that they can take an extra base and get into scoring position at a good rate/volume when they only get singles/BB. The offense won't be able to support the pitching staff. Scoring runs, not preventing them, will be the teams downfall in 2013 if the roster stays as it is now.
  18. Hayward and House have been much better than Woodson was this year. Shields has also had a pretty good year, when he's actually been able to play. Oh okay, you're right. My bad. Packers 72 Bears 0 Yeah, that's exactly what I said. You know me, eternal Packers optimist! All I'm saying is that Woodson really isn't that great anymore. Father Time caught up to him. Just look at Pro Football Focus. Yeah Woodson is really no good at coverage any more, Hayward/Shields/etc. are all better cover corners. Woodson's only good at playing that rover position where he can blitz/break up the short passes/go for strips.
  19. The Astros are still out there leading the caravan to prospectville
  20. Vitters Lake Johnson What was Wells' injury again? Just TJS?
  21. Rob Parker of First Take on RGIII..... http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/dc-sports-bog/wp/2012/12/13/rob-parker-on-rgiiis-blackness/
  22. If they get LaRoche then Olt will be blocked at nearly every position/spot he can play. I assume they'd switch Moreland to DH, since Olt would represent a better return in a trade than Moreland would, and since Cruz will need to spend more time at DH to rest his legs Moreland would make a better part time DH than a guy who could be starting for someone else at 3B. I could see the Rangers going after Stanton with some sort of package revolving around Olt + 1 of Andrus/Profar
  23. Russell is our only lefty reliever now, right? Rusin and Raley......... but if we include them I guess we have to include every left handed person that is in the crowd as a potential LH RP as the talent is virtually the same
