"Today only, see Johnny Maziel throw out the first pitching while re-creating a play from the 2012 season nobody remembers and 99.9% of those in attendance will think a drunk circus midget got onto the field, grabbed a baseball and ran around for a while before throwing the ball in the general direction of home plate."
He left Utah to "take care of his ailing daughter," then immediately signed back with the Lakers. Then pretty much did the same thing to Dallas this year. He's trash. Yeah, I'm pretty sure he left Utah because it was too far west and the treatment his daughter was receiving was being done in like New York or out east somewhere. So naturally he goes to LA.
It appears he did. Does he think that's some sort of timeless sports moment that people have immortalized? Outside of the handful of A&M fans nobody in the country remembers that play.
IDK if Law has inside info but he has been very adamant that the Cubs are taking one of Appel or Gray (especially if Appel falls to us) for quite a while now. So maybe he's right and has talked to the right people or this late Bryant interest is real and it's just Law sticking to his guns and being stubborn moving his stance like he usually is.
Weird to hear a Cubs fan say they don't hate the Mets but I guess that's the norm now. I can't really think of a reason for a Cubs fan in his 20's to hate the Mets. Are we supposed to hate the Mets because of '69? Victor Diaz
His fastball velocity has been down 2.2 MPH from last year. A little bit of that might be early-season effect, but that's still noticeable. Add it all up, and that does not sound good. Maybe not good for Price, but probably good for the Cubs. How so?
Baez, Vogelbach, Candelario, Wood, and Vizcaino for Bautista, Morrow, Buehrle, Janssen, Nolin and take on all the contracts. If we think we are in contention... And if I may be allowed to throw stupid trades out
I disagree. There is still value in day baseball, played under the sun, value that contributes to the brand of the Cubs. They have some sort of sentimental that can't be quantified, but more night games have real, positive, quantifiable value on the bottom line.
He did have some sort of neck injury earlier in the year that they said was limiting him in doing something with his pitching mechanics and could be affecting his velocity.
Law just tweeted a bit ago that he's updating his top 25 in 2 weeks (I'm guessing that's two weeks from tomorrow as Thursday seems to be the day he comes out with a lot of his articles). Doubt any of our guys are on it, maybe Soler sneaks into the 20's as Law seems to really like him and he's performed well but I doubt it. He had him at 42 in his pre-season.
So was Almora. So is Appel. I know, I was just pointing it out. I meant it more in the sense that I doubt/assume he's a guy the Astros would draft and go the same route with him like Correa last year to save and spend above slot elsewhere. If Bryant would go #1 Boras is at least going to get slot for him.
Or extend him and if an opportunity comes up to add a guy that's an upgrade over him simply move him to the pen/make him the long guy. It's not like an extension for him is going to be crazy money and pitching depth is good. It's not like he wouldn't find himself getting 10ish starts a year as the long guy/6th man with pitcher attrition rates.
