He's really good, but top 5-7 player? I think so. He's the 3rd best SF behind LBJ/KD and showed in the playoffs he is a very good defender and can score in multiple ways. Also with Rose/Westbrook not back from surgeries yet I would put him a head of them.
I was thinking something along the lines of that trade as well. I was thinking Almora, Jeimer, and Arrieta. I think I'd lean slightly to give up Almora over Soler. The RH power that Soler will/could provide is something I want in a future lineup of ours.
This Until he hits free agency Barney has a lot of value. On a team with good/great OPS, he's a great fit. With the Cubs, he's not a good fit. Explain.. His OBP this year is .268 and his OPS is roughly around .570. His defense isn't that good, especially at such an easy position as 2B. He's lucky to be slightly above replacement value when defensive metrics are still being finely tuned and fluctuate drastically. DARWIN BARNEY SUCKS. What does "a great fit on a team with good/great OPS he's mean?" Yeah he's a great fit when he's the last guy on the bench, I suppose. So was Theriot.
Looks like we have a pick between 4-6 locked up (probably either 4 or 5) barring a crazy winning streak in the last 9 games. 5 game lead in the loss column over Milwaukee, NYM, and Colorado whom are all tied for the #7 pick and a 3 game lead in the loss column over Seattle who is #6.
Another great article placing blame on a pitcher for a teams woes. This guy wants to put Verlander in the bullpen for the playoffs. I get if it's an argument for him not to be the #1 come playoffs but this is just dumb. This line is just gold Verlander has a 4.5 fWAR, is striking out 8.5 per 9 innings and his 3.66 is good for a 114 era+. I think he has a [expletive] out pitch. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/detroit-tigers-send-justin-verlander-bullpen-230600002--mlb.html
The Chiefs offensive play calls are interesting. They seem to think Alex Smith is a mobile QB and don't think it's necessary to run, running plays for Jamal Charles.
He's pitched into the 7th inning or past every start since Aug 1st in all but one start. He's given up 3 ER or less in every start or less since then as well. In his last 6 starts (Tex lost all 6 games), he's given up 15ER while Tex has scored 11 total runs. They haven't scored in either of his last two starts. Also his ERA is .60 points lower post ASB than pre. [expletive] Texas.
Just skimmed over a Barnwell article on the trade. Found this interesting, Luck go hit/knocked down the most of any NFL QB last year (somewhere in the 80's) the QB who got hit/knocked down the 2nd most was Rodgers and Rodgers was closer to the #17 QB in hits/knockdowns than he was to Luck. I didn't realize Indy's OL was that bad.
What did he do/say/write? http://www.thenation.com/blog/176260/rick-reilly-and-most-irredeemably-stupid-defense-redskins-name-you-will-ever-read#axzz2fLH7jNJo Well, that's interesting. How in any way did he think positives would come of that? I guess he's getting talked about which is something that hasn't happened for years. I'm sure somewhere in the ESPN executive offices they have a countdown clock to the day his contract expires.
Hurdle, Matheny, Francona, Melvin, Showalter, Girardi A serious question: Mike Scioscia? He probably will be available. I wanted Girardi when we hired Svuem. I'll take him now. Dear god, no
Agreed. And I don't know that this is a good return. They just picked him 3rd overall LAST YEAR. Theyre going to trade a #3 pick for a pick likely in the 20s because the Colts are an 11 win team and playing in a weak conference. The Colts aren't an 11 win team
I like the 49'ers, Packers and the Pats, the Steelers is the worst. I think GBs is as bad as PIT. Agreed, it looks like a crappy high school or 1AA college logo.
